Mayor Miner appoints members of Stadium Task Force

People love to jump to conclusions. Are they looking to figure out the design or the financing of the stadium? This task force's remit is an impact study as it clearly says. What will be the impact of a new stadium be on city infrastructure, the near East side, the economic health of the city? That's it. You form a task force to get at answers that are not available or forthcoming at the moment. It's designed to put Syverud, Mahoney, and Cuomo in a room and tell community stakeholders what exactly it is that they're planning (if anything).

You don't need a task force. You need a meeting. Send an Outlook invite, takes 30 seconds.

Yeah. Imagine how that committee is going to function with all those diverse members and constituencies.

(ps, you can use this in your preceeding post)

I think Utica should collect all of their nickles and dimes, and pay to have it named "Utica Stadium." It will be the best publicity they ever get.

Bitch and moan?

The response to this opportunity being dropped in her lap is to form a task force overwhelmingly made up of a large number of politicians.

It's lame.

watch...COR Stadium

Judging by this committee, watch...No Stadium...until SU has the funding by themselves.

If they even have a chance of financing anything and doing it on their own, my opinion is that they should. Anything involving this many agencies, state, county, city and this task force garbage isn't worth the hassle. Turning into a joke already 2 months in.

Just a quick question...Why appoint a gigantic task force now? The money is no longer available for the project but $100 million dollars went to Solvay. I bet their mayor said yes to the proposed project when asked.

Also, the $30 mil for the lakeside amphitheater, did they assign a task force for that? Was there plans already in place and deals worked out beforehand, nope. Just give us the $$$ and we will build a nice place on the water.

Mayer Miner is a joke.

I bet the Mayor of Solvay did backflips into the lake, swam across, and got mercury poisoning they were so happy.

Miner should take that stupid scarf she always wears and close it in someone's trunk and...ah nevermind...

As long as Minor is mayor their will be nothing done on a new stadium, better to just forget about building anything in the city. There will be a lot of meaningless talk, and no action taken unless the county decides to build something outside the city limits.

I don't think it would be that nor M&T nor any bank.

I think the actions of SU, Mahoney, and Cuomo before all the leaks would suggest that it's not that easy. The DC area can afford a 500 million dollar -up. Syracuse not so much.

I think $30 million for an amphitheater is pissing money away. How many months a year can you use that? And they're already trying to downplay any negative effects it'll have on the fairgrounds concert venues.

You got something better?

A better what? Complaint? No, you guys have it covered.

I understand that and my post was tongue in cheek and not to be taken seriously because I know so little about this subject compared to you guys. But good Lord people love to complain about things as opposed to taking action. With the amount of negativity in this thread alone I'm not surprised at all that nothing ever gets done in this region. Can we wait until it fails first before crapping all over it?

I think part of the idea is that this venue would replace the Grandstand at the Fairgrounds, which is in really bad shape. It also costs a half million dollars to rent the temporary stage at the Grandstand for the NYS Fair every year.

That was to point, appointing a "task force" this large is opposite of "taking action".

You think that Minor is driving this project towards coming together?

Then they should use those open sided buses and make a loop through the parking area and fairgrounds. Just jump on and off where you want, that would be fun. Natural gas or electric, of course.

Also what should be built up there is a first class equestrian center for all and any kind of horse boarding and training. New York is one of the top states for horse breeding , racing and showing in the country. There could even be a trail network for pleasure riding.

I would hope so. And if she isn't then enough people need to put pressure on her so she does.
