I brought my sunglasses so throw as much shade as you want. Both times we have tried an offense 'suited to the dome'(WCO, Air Raid) it has not worked out well for us. The concept is spot on, we have the perfect environment...inside. What about outside? Can we get the speedsters to come up North and play for us? Doesn't seem like it. As a matter of fact we've actually seen our worst offensive outputs from these systems.

We play our best football when forget about the stupid Dome 'advantage' and recruit the blue collar NE and mid-west kids we have in the past. I see people saying we can't recruit here. Delone Carter came here and was a stud. When we weren't using gimmicky offenses we got guys like Pugh and Tiller on the line. It works for Pitt, it works for BC and it has worked for us. You want to be consistently good? Then we need to run an offense we can consistently recruit for in CNY. Defense and ball control is a proven formula. Lightning fast 3 and outs is not.

BC recruits tons of kids from Jesuit school that seem to suit themselves for big uglies. If we were surrounded by western PA talent like Pitt is we wouldn't be worrying so much about this stuff.

We aren't surrounded by any talent, but we've had better luck in the past with standard offenses. I have no doubt our 'gimmick' offense is used as a negative recruiting tactic by other coaches. 'You can go there and have great numbers in college, maybe, or you can come here and prepare for an nfl career with our pro-style offense'. Don't you think the fact that neither AET or Ish caught on at the next level is being used against us?

Yes these glory years that you speak of that produced one good offense in 2012! That offense threw the ball a ton as well, could beat you with run or pass but other than that not seeing it

if we had an oline that was just a bit better the pieces are there already. HArris and Queeley are fine. Tucker is fine. The TEs are fine. TD is fine. Just need a bit more from the Oline and and I think we will be fine there next yr. add a bit more size to the DL and the D with the new style is fine.

I would argue that the reason behind a significant number of our program's issues is because we have not ever, in fact, actually committed to taking advantage of the Dome environment by tailoring our style of play to it, and the fact that you point to Gerg's attempt at a WCO as a failure doing so shows just how pathetic and clownish your justification for meathead football truly is.

I think this "we can't get the speed we need" is garbage. I think it's easier to get those players than it is to get dominate OL and DL.

People are sleeping on the new transfer rules. There are 2nd and 3rd string guys all over the top P5 rosters that don't want to sit. We can recruit and develop young guys and hit the transfer market for the spots where we're missing.

The modern offense is a combination of Air Raid/Spread and WCO. Moving away from those concepts turns us into BC and Pitt without the OL to actually pull it off (sounds familiar lol). Marrone's best years and Dino's best years had very good passing games with good QB's. That's still doable.

no team survives when the go down to their last 4 oline men.. Look at Dallas in the NFL . FSU the last couple years. You cant even run a real practice without bodies. it all adds up to more than just what plays on Sat.. Who does the D go against if the scout team oline is no one? You need 10-12 oline to work not 4-5.. the offense has issues but the D will as well.

Think we should be good at Guard at next year, but still need a ready to play Tackle to accompany Bergeron. Servais has really struggled the past 2 years.

Our offense isn't gimmick. The only 'gimmick' if you will, is that it's supposed to go fast. We saw some of that with Morgan, but it's not really happening.

Other than that, it's the same as everything else. We want to run the ball, use play action, and spread the field in the passing game.

We just don't have the players to make it work right now. Which sucks, I know.

We've struggled the most at Tackle and our projected starting tackles have played in every game.

I don't understand that last sentence.

You don't know how much of that is because they are trying to control both the inside gap and help the guard as well as from their inside shoulder to the outside lane.

We don't know enough about what is truly going on there. If there is someone here that is capable of grading the OL that would be helpful.

Well, it is not a "Gimmick" offense. As a matter of fact almost EVERY school runs an up tempo style so it is not to difficult to defend a style that is ran a lot. BC's offence is a pass first style now and no longer a run 1st & 2nd down type. It is the coaches that are recruiting and call the plays. If I were going to negative recruit it would be about the coaching abilities and what they don't do.

struggled enough that he went from left tackle to right tackle to try and help him out..

Elmore has been our best OL this season by far. Kudos to him and the staff for getting creative putting him there despite the obvious size issues.

Pyle nailed this point. There is no "offense suited for the Dome." That is a cop out. We need an offense, AND A STAFF, that will utilize their personnel in a way that suits what we have now. Forcing a no huddle offense predicated on quick RPOs when we don't have the speed or physicality on the outside or inside is never going to work.

There is no "offense suited for the Dome."
Public address system crackles

"Could you please send PatMark down to the main office? The air raid would like to speak with him. Thank you."

This is not a gimicky offense though.. A lot of their schemes and plays are the same as most of college football and HS football. I still think a mixture of Pro sets should be in offensives but keep in mind that we became a great offensive team in 2012 when we decidedto change with modern concepts.

the offense is fine.. but you need to be able to grind out a running game at times and when that is our issue we always struggle..

There are lots of big uglies in central and western NY.

Here let me define gimmick: An offense with no playbook that takes 2.5 years to learn with only 5 base plays with multiple variations that the QB has to correctly read pre-snap in order to work. If you don't like gimmick, fine, pick another word, 'unique'?

Yeah I brought up Gerg. He treid to force an offense that his personnel wasn't capable of running....No I don't think we are Gerg level bad but we also aren't successful and we're doing the same thing. When Gerg got fired everyone said you can't do that here, you have to recruit the blue bloods and play NE football. Ss we got Marrone and he was successful, and then we had Shafer and he wasn't so everyone said we needed an offense 'suited' to the Dome again. It's BS.

I don't understand that last sentence.
Those guys had great numbers here and are probably two of our best WRs in a long time and neither one is on an NFL squad so it's easy to say those guys only racked up those numbers because of a system that doesn't translate well in the NFL.

There are countless teams using the same system or a slight variation
