This story should get big play today.
It's much bigger than just a sports story...although the NY Times is playing it on front page of sports section.
Only Occupy Wall Street in LA, a big stock market opening and so-called "CyberMonday" are competing with it for
major attention.

It will be interesting to see if Nancy Cantor does the morning shows.

If SU wants to do the right thing AND simultaneously take the best action in its own self-interest, it will
be as forthcoming as possible and provide as much information as possible as soon as possible.

A good start would be releasing the 2005 report.
It's already rejected ESPN's requests for the document.

SU alum and WFAN morning host Craig Carton is calling for JB to be fired

HAHA rejected ESPN.Ta hell with all calling for JB to be fired. They are idiots.

You are going to hear a lot of it today though. And if the alum's are calling for it, expect many other to as well.

From what I've seen of his post game pressers, JB probably did not make many friends among the WAER broadcasters.

Of course he is. Guy is a talented radio host but a deplorable human being

I am afraid to listen to WEEI today (Boston sports radio). They hate Boeheim, and were basically ripping him apart LAST week.

Honestly...Boeheim's crotchety nature towards the media is probably a big factor in the many of them pouncing now...

More to do with calling victims of sex abuse liars and out for money and being wrong! That's gonna be tough if not impossible to overcome

How are you so sure they are not liars and out for easy money? Look at the timing of every time he went to the press 2003 Catholic Church scandal, 2011 Penn State. Reeks of opportunism.

Davis is happy with JB,s new statement. So i am good with it. Time to move on.Let the cops focus on Fine and his wife.Jimmy and SU have nothing to do with this.

When you are in a position that JB is in, you can't come off that insensitive though. Words matter. JB said stuff he shouldn't have said. It might cost him big-time

Yep you're right. It may come down to the fact that he has lived by the verbal sword and he might very well die by the verbal sword.

Boeheim is not universally disliked the way some other coaches are.

His issues stem from the statements he made about the accusers.
There will be scrutiny of what he knew (or should have known) and when he knew it.
The answers to those questions will determine his fate.

Interesting that Mike Lupica on Today Show said the situation is so fluid that he
can't say that Boeheim will survive.

He's right about one thing: it is amazing that the tape could stay under wraps for so long
when it's existence was already known by ESPN and Post-Standard and perhaps others.

Lupica's column in Daily News:

If if comes out that JB knew something, I can definitely see him being fired. If nothing else comes out about JB, I can possibly see a scenario where he is forced to retire after this season.

The Today Show opened up with this as their lead with Mike Lupica live on set (same thing they did for Penn State scandal). Matt Lauer's final question was "can Jim Boeheim survive this"? Lupica said because he thought Paterno could survive, and was wrong, he doesn't want to go on record saying that Boeheim will survive this. (but didn't actually say he wouldn't either)

The biggest problem with that interview was that they never said that SU did not have the tape in 2005 or that Davis was pleased with JB's statement and said he didn't believe JB knew anything.

correct me if I'm wrong, isn't it 100% certain that lang is a liar. he said in the past that there was no abuse. Today, he says there was. Either he was lying in 2005 or he is lying now.

Haven't some of you learned NOT to attack the victims yet! Maybe he was ashamed to come out in 2005. Just let it be. Bernie and his wife are scum. Something happened. Whether it was to 1 boy, 2 boys, or 55 boys its still wrong. They aren't innocent. Going after Lang right now accomplishes nothing!

stern, truth is always a defense. lang is a liar. I know it and so do you. He either lied in 2005 or he is lying now. That is one of the few facts we actually know for sure.

don't put words in my mouth.

The thing is, if BF ever goes to trial his lawyer will use that to try and cast doubt on the credibility of the witness in order to get a favorable verdict for his client. It doesn't really mean anything else but that.

Let. It. Go.

Let's assume he lied in the past.
Where exactly does that "cross-examination" go?
Q: Mr. Lang, isn't it true that you said you hadn't been abused?
A: Yes.
Q: And that was a lie, wasn't it?
A: Yes. I was ashamed.
Q: You felt it was necessary to lie because you were ashamed?
A: Yes.
Q: So if it's necessary you lie, right?
A: No. just at that time.
Q: If you think it's necessary, you might be lying now, right?
A: No. I'm telling the truth.

And on and on and on.
The point is...it goes nowhere.
He had a reason to stand up now...and no real motive to manufacture the allegations.

Many victims have problems.
Many are unsavory characters.

It seems to make a lot of sense to learn the same lesson that Jim Boeheim learned the hard way: stop assailing alleged victims.
Let the truth come out.
And let it come out as soon as possible.

the cross wouldn't be quite that nice. A defense lawyer would rip him apart. Right now, there is zero proof that lang was abused. Maybe he was, and if he was, God I hope he gets the help he needs. But that doesn't change that he has lied. So to call him a liar is the truth.
