They're never permanent and only last until they can figure out how to get better donations. I mean they're looking to rename the Carnegie library right now.

Sooner or later somebody will come along and put the Lally name in small print. Eventually it will disappear. It's the way it goes.

*I'll note the JMA Dome naming rights *were* a purchase. But that purchase has an expiration date in 2032. At least with donations it's open ended.

The names go on the building to inspire more donations. The parties involved know the deal. It’s not about ego. Or atleast if your doing it for the right reasons it should have nothing to do with oh look my name is on the building. Melo Jersey is never coming off the rafters, that has nothing to do with money.

Lallys effectively bought the naming rights to the complex with their donation. Melo Center is part of that. So their name is at all the entrances to their complex.

That is the only red flag I saw, and why I said why can't we do anything easy. If that is true, and that is a big if, that is a terrible misstep.

For a university that touts having one of the best schools of communications in the country, you’d think they’d be significantly better at these things.
