MercyHurst PostGame

Maybe against teams like this but not so much against stronger competition
White is replacing him in the lineup and Donnie has far higher upside especially on the offensive end of the court.

I suspect the issue was that we had a lot of people close to the program who like Red and made excuses for last offseason.

I get it, honestly I was fine giving him one more year.

I don’t think one more mediocre year makes a difference at this point. We’ve been largely mediocre since 2017, what’s one more lost year?
Disagree. Once you set up that standard, its very hard to break out of it.

That said, thats over now. Hopefully when we miss the tourney this year JW finally does what is needed and makes a Fran Brown outside the box type hire

Fun fact and at least temporarily until the rest of the scores are in. William Kyle is now tied for 3rd in the country in blocks per game.

Sorry, please carry on :)
Almost depressing. Wasting a great talent. I think he has a chance to get drafted. Only guy playing hard(Kingz too), feel bad for him to be honest

If by nice you mean cheapskates who didn’t want to rock the boat with Melo, yes
Kiyan Anthony would get absolutely devoured in the NBA right now literally on every level, there wouldn't even be a clause for him to be in any type of consideration of making a team such as that level. With that being said if we had a point guard who was a get in your face dog who was held accountable. Things might be different. We would honestly see a more effective Kiyan Anthony as well as everybody else, literally in every facet of the game offensively and defensively. People comparing him to Lawrence Moton at this juncture that is literally absurd, maybe a twinge offensively, absolutely nothing else. It is very OK to be honest and I believe his upside especially for a freshman is immense with the right people around him. He should not even have any of that type of weight with his skill set at this point which is honestly totally normal. I am believing for this coach and for this team I will leave it at that.

I get it. But that ship sailed 8 years ago. People started making excuses for JB and he got to coach his kids forever while the program tanked. One more year? Meh.

Not to belabor...but i am more inclined to give a legend rope than a replacement. But whatever. Hopefully a correction is near.

People here don’t want to admit it. But UConn has MUCH higher standards for their program than we do. And they have for a long time.
Us fans have about the same standards. But the administration and some local media. We were hearing for the last two days how the Hofstra win wasn’t the end of the season. Of course it wasn’t, but you think the fan base wants to hear that. We want to see the team have systems in place to maximize their talents each and every night.

Seeing all the Cuse media personalities endlessly spam "Tennessee beating Louisville is good for Syracuse!" was embarrassing.

As they should. They have 6…6 MF rings!!! It’s unbelievable for such a dud program for a majority of their history to come out of nowhere to claim 6 rings in 25 yrs. I cannot lie, I give them props they did it but it’s still dumbfounding.
I used to have final four or bust mentality until about 10 yrs ago. Then Boehiem stayed and we fell off a cliff.

- One of the most meh double digit wins I can remember.

- We talk so much about gaming the NET and blowing teams out and this was a chance that was missed.

- Too many bad turnovers early.

- We were simply way bigger overall especially inside, which is why we won without really being in danger.

- #11 on Mercyhurst was solid. Very crafty with the ball and could score.

Didnt watch. Wont spend more time supporting this program until an acceptable change is made
I still watch, but I have lost all interest in going to a game whenever I’m in town for both football and basketball. Football, I was in town for BC and I’ll be up there in a few days so there is opportunity to see the basketball team. I’ve had zero interest in making the effort to get up to the Dome to watch the product that’s been out on the field/court this year. Never thought I could get to this point since I’m a diehard.

Lemelman for Mercyhurst had a great game. Bernie Blunt was pretty good, too, although he was forcing it a bit. They had a couple decent big men. They played competitively, and brought the effort against us.

From my perspective, JJ had a fine game, mostly guarded Blunt, who was 5-13 from the floor. JJ with 15 points, 2-4 from three, 4 assists. Great game.

George at least scored, and didn't look winded or ill out there. He had energy, but he made so many bad decisions. I'm glad he got some buckets, but 4 assists to 6 turnovers is not what you want to see. That won't beat decent teams.

Kingz didn't score until late, but he plays a good floor game. Good effort on defense, drives to the rim when his shot isn't falling. Glad we have him.

Sadiq White had probably his best game, but still made a number of boneheaded plays. He got after it on the boards, though - props to that, because he's been weak on the boards in Donnie's absence.

Soare with not a great game. But the people saying he's not a Division 1 player in the chat, shut it down. He's a very solid defender. He could have gotten minutes on any of our last 5 or more teams.

Kyle with 15-10-5. I mean, wow. Great effort. They were looking for him. Let's see them continue to do that.

Betsey with not a great game. He has to play more inside out. Use your size, young man.

Really bad result. The computer will punish us again. To me, none of these games really count until Donnie is back in the lineup. That's when we'll see who our team can be. But we're losing time.

I really like that we had 5 guys score in double figures again, but not enough passing, not very good defense on the perimeter. That effort isn't going to beat very many teams.
No point in keeping on saying that, with Donnie he might come back and get hurt again. Until he can prove he can play regularly without getting hurt, he's not worth talking about.

We let up the same PPM to him as BCWV, a team that doesn’t even have an ESPN page

Well people the most Syracuse thing to do is tank our Net into Q4 then proceed to screw over as many ACC bubble teams as possible by beating them at home.

Next 2 games are just a waste until something sparks them and then they drop this crap. I don't see it happening though.

May be a blessing in disguise honestly. No one wants to see Autry get another year cuz he somehow limped this team into the first 4 tourney game. Talent to take Houston to OT and beat Tennessee but no mental toughness and coaching to make any use of it.

Vs Tennessee they each had 10 it's, Donnie had 4 rebounds to Shadiq's 9 and Shadiq had 3 steals to 0. I know 2 different teams but Donnie hasn't played very well against tougher competition.
I guess we'll see how they both do throughout the season but I still don't see Donnie taking over games against tougher competition.

My least favorite game of the year. Awful on so many levels. From turnovers to just overall not even caring about playing hard because it was Mercyhurst other than WK because he plays hard every game. JJ dribbling the ball off his leg twice. NG turning it over 6 times. Zero coaching intensity, just pure frustration and reaction to every play. I don’t even know what to say

my only comment on the game is that my top 4 coaching options are Josh Schertz, Tony Skinn, Shaheen Holloway, Bryan Hodgson
I’d want Schertz the most, love his resume and I think he’d thrive here.

Confidence is gone and they're lost. No coach or leader on the court.

Might as well just fastforward to March. I'd put big money us being 18-13, 9-9 in ACC play, 9 seed in ACCT, playing at Noon on Wednesday losing by double digits. Same as the last many years.
