MercyHurst PostGame

I’m disappointed because after losing like we did against Hofstra, and presumably stewing on that for 3 days, I’d like to think we’d come out tonight ready to kill.

Instead it seemed that attitude was that we’re more talented so we’ll just grind out an inevitable win without trying too hard.

I genuinely want to find the positive in this team. I want Autry to succeed. I want SU to be good.

But, man, this ain’t it.

Lemelman for Mercyhurst had a great game. Bernie Blunt was pretty good, too, although he was forcing it a bit. They had a couple decent big men. They played competitively, and brought the effort against us.

From my perspective, JJ had a fine game, mostly guarded Blunt, who was 5-13 from the floor. JJ with 15 points, 2-4 from three, 4 assists. Great game.

George at least scored, and didn't look winded or ill out there. He had energy, but he made so many bad decisions. I'm glad he got some buckets, but 4 assists to 6 turnovers is not what you want to see. That won't beat decent teams.

Kingz didn't score until late, but he plays a good floor game. Good effort on defense, drives to the rim when his shot isn't falling. Glad we have him.

Sadiq White had probably his best game, but still made a number of boneheaded plays. He got after it on the boards, though - props to that, because he's been weak on the boards in Donnie's absence.

Soare with not a great game. But the people saying he's not a Division 1 player in the chat, shut it down. He's a very solid defender. He could have gotten minutes on any of our last 5 or more teams.

Kyle with 15-10-5. I mean, wow. Great effort. They were looking for him. Let's see them continue to do that.

Betsey with not a great game. He has to play more inside out. Use your size, young man.

Really bad result. The computer will punish us again. To me, none of these games really count until Donnie is back in the lineup. That's when we'll see who our team can be. But we're losing time.

I really like that we had 5 guys score in double figures again, but not enough passing, not very good defense on the perimeter. That effort isn't going to beat very many teams.

mercyhurst has a board?

Agree 100%.

Ugh . . . I couldn’t find a line on this game, but I’m sure we didn’t cover it.

I had us winning by 13. So I guess they overperformed?

Seriously, any game in which Autry's coaching doesnt cost us a win outright is probably a good one. Just biding time and hoping the program doesnt suffer a fatal blow before the administration finally has the guts to make a change.

It’s really hard to find reasons to keep watching games at this point. And I’m a diehard. There really needs to be a coaching change, go outside the Boeheim shadow this program is stale at best. There really needs to be new blood brought into this program and needs to be rejuvenated

My biggest worry is Boeheim is still active within the athletic department to an extent. I know Wildhack loves JB. So my biggest concern is JB is going to have a lot of say in the next coach too. He needs to be COMPLETELY left out of it. Autry was NEVER the right move. Hell he probably wouldn’t even be a good coach at Siena like Gmac is and that’s the honest truth

it doesn't help that we had clueless substitutions. I just can't figure out what Red is trying to accomplish.

Wildhack deals with JB.

Wildhack is also the one who pushed him out.
I love JV. Who doesn’t, even at this point? This was NOT what we thought would happen when the University pushed him out.

I'm not sure I've really seen a regression this bad in a long time. At least at the end of the JB years and the last 2 Autry years we were consistent at not being very good. We knew the ceiling though.

In the last week since Tennessee we have gotten worse at every position and on both ends. Except Kyle.

Make no mistake we played worse today than for Hofstra whether it was a win or loss is just because Mercy is just basically D2. So 3 games in a row of getting worse since Tennessee.

I don't get it but my best guess is that now Autry is trying to coach offense and he sucks at it and the guards suck at running it. They're all clueless and terrible decisionmakers.

Normally you would say it can't be worse "trying" to install and run an offense but it is actually much much worse because the defense is now suffering too and they're going away from their fast pace.
