Miami Postgame Thoughts

At the beginning of this season I was tossing around the idea of spending the weekend in Miami and going to the SU game Saturday and the Bills game Sunday. In retrospect, that would have been like getting root canals on consecutive days.
Same. I had 3 Miami tickets too I got back in early May through here. Absolutely fine eating the $120 to not spend more going down and seeing that absolute sh**show.

Fran is who he is. I know some posters here don’t like his style and that’s ok. But should he carry himself in public like a depressed man just because we are experiencing a very difficult situation where the answer is really that the underclassmen need to continue to develop and we need the offseason quick to figure out how to make sure the roster is risk free from falling off a cliff next season if we face similar situations again? I personally haven’t seen the competitive spirit in a head football coach here in a long time. I think Fran just also genuinely enjoys being apart of the game day experience.

I love it. Give me that all day long. Better back it up, though.

I recall Dino standing stoic on the sidelines as we absorbed beat downs or were on the wrong end of calls and people didn't like it one bit. I'll take passion over that any day.

Man how does that person label Fran as being extra for that comment. Some people’s skin is so thin. I loved Fran getting fired up on the sidelines, the timing was right for it to motivate the team. He is walking the walk for fighting to the end of this awful season

Im dying on this hill, this year is best thing to ever happen to us.

1. We have talent coming back - Peal and Samuel will be really good next year
2. We will infuse more talent long term even faster with recruiting class
3. We will infuse talent in portal
4. QB1 back
5. Oline will be huge and deep
6. Fran cant go anywhere this year and its 1 more year of loyalty and program/culture shifting making it at least less likely he leaves next year.

If we are being honest it is a bit much. That is something you say to someone you play every year after a hard fought game. We got our butts kicked in the 2nd half, not like this was the 2017 game. We don't play them again till 2028 and do not have a game in Miami the rest of the cycle (2026-2030, although that can change with the ACC going to 9 games).

Why was it "too much' by him saying "good job, but don't get used to it"...to renowned trash talker Michael Irvin no less?
And who cares if we're scheduled to play them next year? We beat them out of an ACC championship and kept them out of the cfp last year, and this was a payback game for them.
And moving forward we could theoretically be top 2 for an acc championship down the road, so there is a chance we could see them again sooner rather than later, no?
Not saying you especially, but it's ridiculous how thin-skinned folks have become these days, in sports and everywhere else. It's not that deep.

Don't get used to it, meaning don't get used to beating SU. As of now we play them once in the next 5 years. Again that can change but logically speaking it doesn't make sense.

If Schiano told Ark Monk the same thing after our 2004 game where Reyes ran all over them, how would that look? What would your reaction have been? We just got our butts handed to us. They punked us. It isn't like we had a hard fought game. If this had been 2017 it would make sense, but not after that crap.

"Don't get used to it", aka "we'll be back...this isn't how things will be when we meet again" , etc etc. And theoretically we CAN see them again sooner than 5 years. If HCFB takes the program where we want, then what's to prevent another matchup sooner rather than later?
Different sport but I remember Dan Hurley at UConn stating "you better get us early" as his team was getting trounced on a regular basis. Maybe 3 years later they were winning NCs...as my nephew likes reminding me. Folks scoffed, called him a show boater, ridiculed him for talking smack after repeated beat downs, but he believed in what he was building, and knew better days were coming.
HCFB feels the same way, and wants everyone to know that DART isn't just some slogan, it's a mentality, and that statement was the perfect example of that fact. It's good to have some chutzpah back in the program instead of taking beatings as "ho-hum, just another day in the park". JMHO
