Miami Postgame

We almost came back the last game when down that much. You at least try.

Plus, with the lack of timeouts in the final 1:30, Red caused Devo the same level of anguish that I had to watch Randoph Childress suffer through earlier in he week. :(

Poor guys were both out of breath they were so flustered by our poorly coached team.

Neither of these fellows is a kid any more - Red's poor coaching is raising their blood pressure to dangerous levels!!! #savedevo #saverandolph

We aren’t even getting into the minutiae of this game which is the entire point of these type of threads. It’s basically like red tape at this point. Just cut it, Wildhack.

The lack of toughness on this team is astonishing. Fifty fifty balls effort is a joke. George and JJ in particular just watch.
-our softness was evident in the rebounding, which ultimately was the key to the game. we really only have two guys who make any effort to rebound. And when Donnie and Kyle combine for eight boards, as they did today, we are cooked.
-ultimately the play of the game was the missed dunk when JJ, instead of giving the ball up to Anthony, made it into a more difficult play and missed the dunk. As soft as we are, we crumbled after that. 3-10 with awful d from JJ
-of course, our guards’ defense was a disaster. George’s statistics are misleading. He took a ton of shots and once again did not take care of the ball. More than anyone he was obliterated on defense. But it’s hard to believe that the great defense we saw against Houston in Vegas has simply disappeared. We gave up 85 to this team? This team that just scored 63 against Florida State of all teams?
-I have no idea why white was matched up late in the game against a guard who could go right by him and go to the basket. The press was an embarrassment.
-it was bad enough that we missed the analysis on George, but to think that we had to take Souare as well is depressing. What a horrific stint he submitted today.
-we have entered the territory where watching these games feels like an obligation/chore more than anything else.

To be fair, there were two major turning points in the second half

1. The missed goaltend actually was a 6 pt swing.

2. The starling missed dunk.

Either of those play out differently and I think we might have won.

The second half offense was nice. Now the issue seems to be we can’t play well offensively and defensively simultaneously

The Syracusefan.com annual tradition continues for one more year.

1. Preseason rankings released.
2. Syracusefan.com members whine about being ranked too low.
3. Members proven wrong by end of January.

White needs to play more, move Kings to the 2, play Betsy more, play Kiyan more. Bench Starling, sub back up PG in for George

Starling is a good guy and teammate but not a good all around basketball player. Weak defender can’t move side to side, poor outside shooter, poor free throws, weak handle, not a very good passer. He is above average at getting to the basket and can be great when hot. However, he should be the team leader and Alpha at this point and reality is we keep losing with him in the games for 3 years now. Bring him off the bench for a few minutes to give guys a breather but it,me to play youth and save them if we can.
