We won 4 games without him. Seems to be a good person.Starling is a good guy and teammate but not a good all around basketball player. Weak defender can’t move side to side, poor outside shooter, poor free throws, weak handle, not a very good passer. He is above average at getting to the basket and can be great when hot. However, he should be the team leader and Alpha at this point and reality is we keep losing with him in the games for 3 years now. Bring him off the bench for a few minutes to give guys a breather but it,me to play youth and save them if we can.
It would have been so simple to announce JB’s retirement in the middle of the season. Let me do a bit of a farewell tour. We could have started a nations coaching search and ended up with someone decent. He was a terrible hire to begin with.
The entire process was botched.
It’s not even just wildhack. The whole board is so inept and is behind on everything. NIL we were late as one example. Syracuse doesn’t run a college athletics like these other schools do and I still question why.It would have been so simple to announce JB’s retirement in the middle of the season. Instead they did this whole “JB is retired” force out after the Wake loss and then announce Red as coach within a few days because they botched it up so bad.
I have no idea who is advising JW on coaching firings and hiring a but he continues to completely botch up the process. You think a guy that ran a media company would be significantly better at managing the public perceptions of his decisions.
Exactly why I sold my tickets for the rest of the season. No reason to continue wasting time money and energy to watch this team
This is very funny and well done, Sad. Maybe mean. But funny.
It wouldn’t have been simple. JB didn’t want to retire. His booster friends and allies on the board didn’t either. He’d literally still be coaching today if he had his way.It would have been so simple to announce JB’s retirement in the middle of the season. Let me do a bit of a farewell tour. We were never on a roll. We simply beat three lousy teams. Then we lost to a lousy team and twice more to decent teams.Wow, a week seems like forever. It was just a week ago we were on a roll. Donnie was back and playing awesome. We had an opportunity to beat BC and VT and put us in great position to get inside of the bubble.
Now, everything is shambles and it would take a miracle for us to get to the Dance.
Against Miami, we were smashed and bashed on the boards. We rolled out the red carpet for them to prance down the lane.
You cant quit down less than ten with over a minute to go, but we did quit.
We cleaned up the TO problem, but that was the only positive I saw out there.
Kiyan played well, everybody else was meh, nobody was awful, but 8 guys playing meh adds up to nothing.
I have tried to be patient with Red and give him the benefit of the doubt until the season played itself out.
Well, that shipped has now sailed and is halfway across the Atlantic in my mind.
It used to be that if we were having a bad season, we could at least focus on young players and look for improvement the following season. But now, with the portal the way it is, there is no tellling who will be back. Cant say there is a better than 50% chance about anybody's return except for Kiyan.
Very sad state of the hoops.
Was the juicing station active?Forget all this. Did he say what level the team played at. That is what I want to know.
Hey when you have a chance to hire a guy who was 138 games under .500 at Mt St Mary’s you gotta do it. Particularly when he couldn’t even deliver the one player of his you want! That was a useless hire. Ironically, he might end up as interim.

I think the reason they don't want to fire him now is because it serves no real purpose. Do you see an ass't on the staff that you think, now there is an improvement? We have 11 games left plus the ACC tournament game. The time will pass fast enough. So bad...
They don't want to fire Red midseason because they don't want to embarrass him ???
Today was embarrassing to him, our players, our fans, and our university...
JJ has regressed each year. Reason unknown. Injuries? Coaching? We won 4 games without him. Seems to be a good person.
I feel sorry for 2 people Red because he attached his coaching career to JJ being a star, and it failed miserably. And his career as a division 1 Head Coach is probably finished. I also feel sorry for JJ good person who came home hoping be be a star. Don't know how bad things were at Notre Dame, but was not the player Red and the fans expected.
Also feel sorry for the team and coaches, this wasn't what they expected.
No mention of levels. A few mentions of “dips.”Forget all this. Did he say what level the team played at. That is what I want to know.
I'm afraid you may be right.I get that people want to blame Wildhack…but this is 1000% on the BOT. The problem at Syracuse has been for AT LEAST FORTY YEARS we have people on the board who think they are more qualified to run a college athletics department than our AD. We are fortunate Wildhack has stayed around to try to manage through a disaster of a structure at Syracuse. There’s a reason why Coyle peaced out so fast - some of it was wanting to get to the Midwest….a lot of it was him realizing Syracuse University is a dumpster fire.
No matter how bad you think Wildhack is - when he leaves I expect it will get much, much, much worse. Nobody with any other options is going to want to hop on and conduct this trainwreck of an organization - we’re going to long for the good ole days of the competence and professionalism of Gross.
Lobdell should be HCI think the reason they don't want to fire him now is because it serves no real purpose. Do you see an ass't on the staff that you think, now there is an improvement? We have 11 games left plus the ACC tournament game. The time will pass fast enough.
