I remember him being part of a conversation on TV about “student athletes” several years ago and saying one time he asked Jimmy Johnson to miss a practice to join a group study for a test - he was told “you’re not here to be a student, you’re here to be a football player”.

I sincerely doubt that - regardless of how little interest he had in how players did in classes - Johnson would have said something that stupid. Tell him he can’t miss a class for something optional? Sure. But tell him he’s a football player not a student? No way.

In other words, you know Irvin is saying something insane with no grounding in reality when you see his lips moving. It astonishes me he’s been paid to do on TV for so long now - he simply has nothing intelligent or relevant to add to any discussion.

To be sure Fran Brown & Co. did conspire to beat former top ten Miami. SU even spotted the Hurricanes 21 points, with assistance from the refs. So glad some conspiracies are true.
