Virginia Tech kicker disrupts Syracuse marching band during halftime performance (video)
John Love was on the field while the marching band was performing.
I hit a bunch up about that since Saturday and mentioned it to insider and Axe apparently didn’t see it. NCAA rules even say no kicking until the field is available. There supposed to kick into nets until it is. Also only the last 3 minutes is guaranteed for warmups too, and still field availability. All this happened from the 5 -10 minutes left in halftime.
The apology was half hearted imo. And even at the end he kicked it literally into them when getting of the field and he hit a few. The other kicker should have said something too but at least that one stopped although he kicked it over their heads. The ones on the sidelines in the back were following the rules and respectful.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH JOHN LOVE
He knew exactly what he was doing. An apology now is the bare minimum. He should have stopped then.Unacceptable that he hit the kids while they were going off the field
Shouldn’t be kicking there unless you’re trying to hit someone
This kid needs to be suspended
Agree. If I was the coach I would bench right then and there and suspend him for a few games for measure. First time stop, but to keep going pretty much is embarrassing and I was sitting in the stand completely like What.He knew exactly what he was doing. An apology now is the bare minimum. He should have stopped then.
I love it as a former field band person myself. Most Football coaches use to hate the band at football games when I grew up. Like Fran for this!
Reason 1,463 why I hate Jokies. If this was posted someplace else, I apologize. I made a cursory check and didn’t see it anywhere. Please feel free to delete if I missed it.
The strangest thing. I have never seen players from the opposing team insisting on warming up during halftime on the field WHILE the SU marching band is performing. The VT kicker and punter insisted on being out in the middle of the band’s halftime show kicking balls. In at least two instances kicking balls directly over the heads of the band members. It was so bizarre. It looked like a band rep came out and talked to them, but they ignored her. Finally a more official looking SU official came over and talked to a VT assistant. The players, very stubbornly and slowly eventually ended their efforts.
So odd. Really poor display of common sense and sportsmanship on the part of VT.View attachment 246440
I actually hope Clemson kicks their **** (which they will) next weekend and their band plays all through halftime and 5 seconds into each snap with a follow up VT Cannon firefire retort on every touchdown at this point. A blocked ball right back into the kicker would be good too.Reason 1,463 why I hate Jokies.
There's no love for you here John. Shank them all arseclown.
lol i'm a hokie and pissedThere's no love for you here John. Shank them all arseclown.
agree, he taunted the crowd when he was getting booed. Terrible look for their football program, apology falls flat today. He knew exactly what he was doing. An apology now is the bare minimum. He should have stopped then.
He kept kicking multiple times and in different locations, even after being moved. He clearly thought they were in his way and not the other way around. He knew exactly what he was doing. An apology now is the bare minimum. He should have stopped then.
It doesn't matter. NCCA Rules state field not free you kick into nets if the field is not free. In any case the band was going off the field with 5+ minutes left in the half. Video has the time left on the clock too. He was kicking at around 11minutes down to about 8ish before he finally left. Band was walking off at the 7:10 minute mark and still got kicked into when he thought it was cool to kick into the endzone.VT fans are responding to John Loves tweet saying that the SU band went long in their performance. That is objectively incorrect, right? I feel like he was kicking with over 10 minutes left in halftime.

There was at least 8 and a half minutes left. I looked up at the clock when I saw him out there to see if more time had passed than I realized.VT fans are responding to John Loves tweet saying that the SU band went long in their performance. I was in disbelief. I preloaded my last 2 beers before halftime and was sitting in the stands watching the whole thing. It was ridiculous. Over in the back the center/qb practice was fine. There were 2 kickers, and one stopped after he launched one over the top of the band when the person came up. Mr Love just kept going and looked like he was laughing. There was at least 8 and a half minutes left. I looked up at the clock when I saw him out there to see if more time had passed than I realized.
FYI, you got this even before all the rest got onto the field. This was way before 11 minutes left.If this was posted someplace else, I apologize. I made a cursory check and didn’t see it anywhere. Please feel free to delete if I missed it.

Fire the coach then as he doesn't represent VT goals or ideals or ut prosim if that is his attitude.I suspect it was the VT head coach’s way of protesting the way the time clock played out to end 2nd quarter. Petty and glad he got a good old karma enema for it.
I don't buy the apology.
Aside from the on-field staff interactions, there were plenty of obvious boos from fans and a number of us in earshot telling him to stop. Especially when the band was funneling out around the goalpost. It was quiet and that was gross.
I don't need the kid suspended or whatever. But the damage he did to my opinion of VT football is done.
