Weirdest Thing I’ve Ever Seen

I believe both teams are aware of the “exact” timing of the halftime festivities before each game. I dont believe this was a case of “we didn’t known, was more “we didn’t care”.
There's timing sheets for every sporting event that the teams get beforehand. Corresponds to how time left before kickoff or 3rd Q etc

To go out early was an intentional move and classless.

They came out to warm up way earlier than any kicker I’ve ever seen. Had to be about 8 minutes left and they were out there kicking.
It was right about 10 mins left and they came out To kick.

I was shocked those kickers thought they had the right to do what they want on another team’s field. During a halftime show. And that that VT staff allowed them to act like petulant children.

This is going to result in the league having to issue a memo forbidding visiting teams from having personnel on the field while the band is performing.

Should not be necessary but VT forced the hand of the league.

I wonder if VT gets fined as well? They should. This kind of behavior is arrogant and dangerous. The world does not revolve around some gloried walk-on special teams geeks.
I'm with you Tom. If the head coach has any character, he has the team run gasers next practice for embarrassing him and the school and if the head coach is not embarrassed by what happened, then the AD should make the staff and players run gasers til they drop.

The home team band has control of the field while they are doing their halftime performance. This has been the case for a hundred years.

No memos are needed on that.
Yup, and according to NCAA rules they have to wait.
Should have never happened.

Edit: I should I believe this happened around 5ish minutes left when I looked at the clock and the band was exiting before the 3 minutes as I recall.

Band should have throttled him. Tuba player should have stood in front of that guy and played his horn right into his face. Relentlessly.

Yeah, could you imagine if a tuba player grabbed him and gave him a toss? The ego hit of being tossed by a band member is something that would have cost thousands in therapy bills and years of working through specialized breathing techniques, to get over.

15 yards on the second half kickoff?
I would have called it unsportsmanlike and then thrown a second personal foul and or team one when they continued, and ejected after kicking into the band after again. They were warned three times and the last the SU and VT coach saying get off the field finally did something.

I sit in the end zone near the visitor section, the guy behind me was screaming his head off at this jagoff when he wouldn't leave the field. As the band was finishing up he went back out there tossing the ball around in the air. It reminded me of all the times the Clemson band would play through the snap when we first joined the ACC, so disrespectful. To not have any of the VT coaches come out immediately and pull him off was just as bad an offense. Glad karma kicked them in the ass.

Don't put up the field goal nets until the band is finished, if they want to kick all their balls into the stands so be it.
I hit a bunch up about that since Saturday and mentioned it to insider and Axe apparently didn’t see it. NCAA rules even say no kicking until the field is available. There supposed to kick into nets until it is. Also only the last 3 minutes is guaranteed for warmups too, and still field availability. All this happened from the 5 -10 minutes left in halftime.

The apology was half hearted imo. And even at the end he kicked it literally into them when getting of the field and he hit a few. The other kicker should have said something too but at least that one stopped although he kicked it over their heads. The ones on the sidelines in the back were following the rules and respectful.

The coach not doing anything from the start pissed me off too.

There was about 9 mins left in halftime when the crowd started noticing what was occurring
