last year they gave up 450 a game

this year 322

Congrats to Greg Robinson for teaching them so well and laying the groundwork for an 11-2 season.

(i didn't watch much michigan this year but when i did, they never looked like an 11-2 team)

offense dropped from 488 to 404.

The best argument for a multiple offense is that your defense gets prepared for lots of things. Part of why they couldn't defend before is because Gerg is, in fact, worthless but another part of it is that they spent all their time practicing against a peculiar offense.

i'm still not a fan of multiple what is our identity offenses, i'm just saying if i had to argue for it, i might go the route of pointing out the added bonus of a better prepared defense

Just like WVU had no idea how to stop a tight end... or we had no idea how to stop a qb who could run without fumbling... air raid teams can't stop the run because they never practice running

multiple prostyle offenses aren't as effective in terms of offensive yards, but maybe it helps your defense. very hard to prove though because so many of the factories can indulge their pro style meathead tendencies because they're so loaded.

I'm stunned that no one has posted something to the effect of "Michigan only gained 182 yards and WON. Seeeeeee!!!! Defenses are more important!!!!"

I have a reply ready to go and everything.

Very disappointing.

;)

i was expecting a post about yards. VT had double the yards and lost! Yards don't mean anything!

which of course in one game can be true. i'm still scarred from watching andy hawkins lose a game where he threw a no-hitter - weird stuff can happen in a single game

The windy day with Jim Leyritz playing left field, that was fun.

As for last night, if your special teams player runs directly into a punter, then your kickoff return man fumbles, then your punter in some type of 'I'm not sure if was planned' fake decides to punt with a linebacker on top of him, then yes, you can easily lose a game where the opponent doubles the yardage. Beamerball baby! Loved it.

I'd go ahead and call it an exception to the rule. Like Jim Leyritz' left field debut in Chicago.

Hard to believe that was a Michigan team. The freaking kicker was bigger than their QB, RBs and WRs. Bunch of smurfs.

I know Mike Hart was small guy, but it was the whole team. One kid looked about 5-5.

Hail to the Victors!

it will be interesting to see how the progression works.. he keeps saying the srs did the job this year.
they got outplayed week one by WMich but got 3 to's to win easily
they got outplayed by ND but played a great 5 min to win late
outplayed by MSU and split with Iowa/NW in pretty even games
dominated Emich, beat SDst but allowed almost 400 yds
did a nice job vs Minn/Neb/Ill and were lucky to beat OSU in a down year.

you get/male your breaks you win those games.

probably should have lost to MSU/ND/VT and had an 8 win season but got 11 out of it.. time will tell how well they turn the corner.. if Neb stays avg and OSU doesnt bounce back and Wisc is not on the schedule it make look Rosy

just by yardage rankings (42 and 17), they project out to (rounding) 10-3

Hoke is a real meathead but hey he's a MICHIGAN man!!! Is anybody who was ever an assistant a Michigan considered a MICHIGAN man?

Do you apply this logic to Syracuse wins? One would think you could have a field day on that for our 2010 and especially, 2011 wins.

he must be craving a more uptempo offense. more uptempo = more plays = more couldawouldashouldas

Where's the outrage over the 184?
wanna make a deal? if we make it to 42nd in the country in offense, I won't complain about getting 184 in a bowl win.

we hit their average yards all of twice this year

You ought to read the book "Three and Out" - the story of RR's time at Michigan.

By year three against Indiana, Michigan is playing seven true freshman on defense.

At the beginning of I believe his second season - maybe the third season - I forget - RR has 24 scholarship players who play defense.

You might want to consider "congratulating" Coach Robinson for making do under what were apparently difficult talent circumstances.

"Totally"?

How about "tubular"?

Well, I guess it's better than "crap."

Right?

Just kidding Millhouse - just kidding. Happy New Year to you and yours.
