Might cut the cord

I will be signing up for a streaming service tomorrow. I've had Hulu, sling and YouTube in the past. Not going back to sling.
Any recommendations or deals that look good?
We've been using YouTubeTV for years.
It works great for us.

Your YouTubeTV account also give you access to ESPN/ACCNX, Fox Sports, etc..

The 3 streams worked fine for us (we used 2 and one of our sons was allowed to use the other) until our son got an extra TV which on occasion caused us to get kicked out and then had to re-join and kick him out. We then upgraded to YouTubeTV HD which removed the 3 stream limit.

We typically have 3 or 4 TVs on the deck and at least one indoors for college football days.
We have 2 Roku sticks and 4+ FireTV sticks. The FireTV stick is my favorite as it is more open to letting you install additional applications, including my VPN service (NordVPN). The latter lets us watch some out of market NFL games that our friends may want to see, in addition to letting me watch some Dutch sports programs (and others) which I like to watch (Dutch national soccer team games, Olympics, etc.).

This doesn’t add up. Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, Apple TV, etc… are just portals. You need to subscribe to the underlying service somehow.
Sorry for the late reply. I install third party apps and I am able to stream the content for free.

I was thinking the same thing. Even though I have smart tv's with roku appa, I still use roku streaming sticks. There's lots of free stuff on roku but I still have to pay for accn etc.
I pay zero. I know where to find the free content. FYI

I think what people are saying it that you still have to pay for access to the Internet. It might be Spectrum (internet only). It might be Verizon. Or Comcast or one of the many other Internet providers out there. Or you could be accessing it through your phone and casting it from there.

Though I believe there are some areas in the city of Syracuse where people can access the Internet wirelessly for free, provided they meet certain low income requirements.

I definitely have to pay for internet. Good point. Thank you.

That does not sound legal.

Just got an email that YouTube TV is going up $10 to $82.99 per month starting in January 2025
Streaming is pricing itself out quickly. I have sling that I prepaid for 4 months. But I’ll cancel it after football season

I do football and basketball then cut it. It was nice when Hulu was 35 bucks per month. I have youtube now and I don't watch 99% of what's available.

All the streamers are going up. The only ways to save money are the number of channels you want or the number of physical boxes, or promo offers which are tough to cycle through more than once. Or just watch less television. Doesn’t mean you can’t make the math work for you but there aren’t really deals to be had out there.

I'm going to be switching from Spectrum to You Tube shortly after I figure out how to get my old home theater non-hdmi projector to run through Roku.

Very disappointed with the price increase. I typically will subscribe to YTTV from August-March for Cuse FB & MBB & NFL. Last few years, I could pause the service earlier than March due to MBB not being competitive (as much as I hate to admit that). I may have to tighten my standards further as there isn't a great alternative. The price increase equates to about one month in my usage. So, if MBB doesn't make the dance...

Has anyone tried this? https://vseeboxtv.co/
No, but I don't think you really need a box/hardware like that. I'm pretty sure it's doing the same thing (or very similar) that you can do using Stremio and/or Kodi (which are both free). Add a few bucks a month for a debrid service. I have these things along with my YouTube TV service so there is very little in the way of programming that I'm unable to get.

The only challenge relying on Stemio/Kodi without a service like YTTV is that their DVR is so good. I LOVE the fact that I have it set up to automatically record every Cuse football/basketball game without me lifting a finger. It does the same for NFL games and other stuff I want.

Edit: one thing I'll add is that in order for Stremio and/or Kodi to work, you do need a streaming device, but those can be had for cheap. I have an Onn 4K Google box from Walmart for $50. It works great.

A friend of mine says he uses only the box that I linked and he has only internet. He said that he can watch local stations anywhere in the country from his home. He also said the box gives him free movies and shows.

Yes, but my earlier point was just that you could also do that with a $50 streaming box, add Stremio for free, and for 3 bucks a month subscribe to real debrid (which helps find good streaming content). I also use this approach (minus the need for a streaming box) on my pc and laptop.

Just to be clear... stremio is legal but how you use it may not be.
