Football record for the past 10 years. 45 Wins-77 Losses I think that hurts recruiting along with a generally anemic offense. Especially if you're trying to land a 4 star QB (Long was one on ESPN). If I was a highly recruited QB (or wide receiver) I'd look at the ability of the coaching staff to generate a consistently decent offense. Our record is abysmal. Nothing wrong with being frustrated SU fans given the lack of entertainment value that the football program has offered us in recent years. Many (not all) of the "negative" posts have been realistic. Reality bites.

I think it's as simple as sometimes people post here forgetting that it's a public space. If you knew a recruit was in the room with you, you might still be realistic or honest - but your tone and attitude would be different.

There's little negative this board can do that either our record, or 15-20,000 empty seats at games aren't doing already.

It's ridiculous to call this board negative. And it amazes me that with our record over the last 10+ years, if anyone questions anything about last year or next year, they are deemed negative. There's 1 - 2 negative people on the entire board and we keep having posts about how negative some of the posters are. Some of you are way too sensitive, surprising on a football board.

That's the part that gets me...recruits have to know how bad this has gotten. This place is like lambs all things considered. I'm actually shocked so many continue to post.

My God, is it time for this argument again?

You know what, let's shut down the board.

Seriously.

It's doing nothing but harm to the program.

Shut it down.

Nope. You are wrong. This board causes all the problems for this program. The internet only negatively affects SU. It's remarkable, but true.

We already used that as a theme for hoops.

Yep - it's been getting better. I think it's not "anyone that questions" something that's the issue. Plain and simple: it's the expectation that we won't get any better.

If that's your attitude - then yeah - that's negative. It's tough because of the stretch we are in. Winning will cure much of it - but I wonder what having some hope will do to the tone of the board - and the feeling recruits and family get when the find the board.

Are you going to contribute to that? Are you powerless to the negativity? "Hey, we've sucked. What do you want?!" Seems defeatist.

Or we can just be a touch more careful about what we share in public. Certainly can't hurt.

It can do some good. Twitter Army certainly believes the Internet can affect our future just a tiny bit.

It's not a huge problem - but my goodness - thinking about what you say and how you say it in public shouldn't be that hard.

Oh for the love of pete, knock it off.

Enough of this 'recruits are reading the board so act fake and pretend this is one big recruiting board' nonsense.

That's not how this board got started and I absolutely refuse to let it become a bullshlit propaganda site. Go the fluck elsewhere for that.

This is Syracusefan.com, it's where...now stay with me here...Syracuse Fans, discuss Syracuse.

To tell people what to say and how to say it...is ludicrous.

Idiots and nonsense are banned and deleted, but to not be able to say something like 'the staff better win or they will all be fired' because a recruit is reading... is insulting to the very nature of the board and to the intelligence of the recruit.

Maybe u guys think our recruits are all stupid and need the wool pulled over their eyes to come here. If so, Fluck You, this is Syracuse, they should be honored to have the pleasure to play for us.

And our recruits are likely smarter than you, regardless, and would see through that nonsense and laugh at us.

This thread is about facts.

People have lost their damn minds.

Remedial. Reading. Skill. I've been very clear.

Just post as if you know what your saying could be read by someone who could actually change the fortunes of the program you think you care about. That would be the wise approach. Maybe you care maybe you don't.

I know I think about it before I write something.

I wasn't the one to bring it up and I don't particularly find anything wrong with this post. I was speaking more in generalities about the whole thing.

You're the one who said it was insane.

The best part here is this...let's say for instance that recruits actually go elsewhere because o board hostility or local media hostility (I seriously doubt any recruit even factors it in at the end of the day), what do those recruits think it's like at other schools. You miss a kick or a block or throw an INT yeah you might get poked a bit, but do those recruits realize how rabid places like bama, USC, Michigan and Ohio state are? Miss a kick and you might get hurt. We've lost for 15 years. The fact that we even have fans says something about loyalty.

there are those who will always cheer no matter how bad the product - and they expect a badge '' greatest fan"' for doing it

I like how some posters blame attendance on the lack of razzle dazzle as if the offense is ordinary

You're missing the point. The factories can be crazier and seriously negative - but they also have a belief that they can turn it around. The passion goes both directions.

You're right in saying we've not had a lot to cheer for for 15 years. My point is we can wallow in that or we can realize that one of the places recruits go to get a feel for the program's fan base is here.

Damn straight. The alternative is what? Mindless and constant wallowing in crap?!

Actually I take it back. The OP is kind of barely relevant since the OC is new. Not sure what it was meant to do except confirm that we've sucked at throwing the ball for a long time?
