Minnesota hiring Nick Monroe

This gives some idea what Minnesota pays. It's from Jan 2022 so it gives an idea what they made this past season.

Sorry but it’s not right that the players aren’t being told before hand. At least send an email blast and wait 90 minutes.
This was not a formal announcement. It was a leak, maybe deliberate or maybe not, but I am sure Monroe did not have permission from Minnesota to tell SU players.

Nothing outstanding there as far as high salaries in a quick glance.

Sucks to loss him but I am not going to take the position all is lost. First I would have taken Long over Nick as the DC at this point. Second Dino has made some really good hires recently. Hopefully that trend will continue. Finally we will loose some more players after spring but I do feel those positions can be filed with good players. Still cannot wait until next season.

Am I the only one that gets excited about this stuff, in a weird way? I'm excited to see who Dino hires to fill the vacancies. His hires the last few years have been fun and interesting. Rocky Long, Anae, Beck, White, Schmidt, excited to see where he goes from here.
Yes

This is more about the gulf between B1G and the ACC than it is about Dino. Monroe and White sting - but left for more money. This is the story almost every time a coach leaves for a new job. Anae's departure prob was in the issue with Dino camp - or vice versa. And we got the guy we wanted.

Dino's made some very good hires recently. This is a chance to do so again.

(He prob interviewed guys at the coaching convention that happened last weekend?)

Agreed could be a huge win for us
This is the correct attitude.

Go on. Who would be a huge win from his tree? Asking sincerely, I really don't know all of his offshoots. Thoughts on names?

Well looking at New Mexico staff I would wager this guy will come aboard as a GA or some sort of Analyst.

I hate losing Monroe but for the next couple of years having Rocky is more important. We have to change our mindset that with the changing tides of money and the transfer portal, we really can't look too far down the road. Adding Rocky is the equivalent of adding a second head coach and our game planning is going to be so greatly improved. Concentrate now on finding a very good recruiter and keeping our best defensive players from entering the portal. If they have spent some quality time with Rocky, I'm guessing they'll stay put. Kids love playing for him.

Swag gets to go home, gets a raise, and a promotion, and served us very well for 7 seasons. Best of luck to him.

Hey, stop with the sensibility and calm while I’m trying to rant !!!!

I would be lying if I said I wasnt worried about some key departures. It puts a pause on those DB transfers. Nick was the most likeable and respected coaches on the staff. The new hires are critical
It's a major blow to recruiting, not just at the HS level but portals as you mention. He's developed so many relationships and is a hands-down recruiting star. Real pity something couldn't be done ... like Rocky here for 2-3 and Swag is CIW. I'm hoping they close this wound quickly ... but I'll really miss Swag and his contributions to the program. Someday I hope we get him back.

Clark worries me but he would have to sit a year if he leaves. I don’t think Simmons Johnson Barron Wilson will leave their status as starters.

I have a pretty good source that told me Monroe was a bit nervous about taking the DC reigns here at SU. Perhaps the comfort of being just a "co" DC at MN coupled with the pay bump and MN being his home state were too much to pass up. With all that being said, I think it was still a tough decision.
