Does this put the Ville in the Big 12? Will anyone accept a BE invite with UCon and Rutgirls chomping at the bit? Will the BE last as long as our official release date?

This doesn't change anything. WVU fills in for Mizzou. If WVU can't get out of the BE for next year it could be interesting, but I'm sure they will now.

The Ville would bolt for the Big 12 if invited. Doesn't sound like this will happen, at least for awhile. I have season tickets to their football games, and I rather see Texas, OU, etc. than Rutgers, UConn, etc. Only regret would not seeing SU play, although I did go to the UofL-SU football game and wow did SU look bad. Was routing for the Orange.

Only care about the ACC.

Outside of Virginia every team has had a memorable year or been a sweet 16 caliber team in in football or basketball in the last decade.

Much different then the Seton Hall, providences,Depauls, South Floridas and Rutgers(because they are consistant fluke at the moment) of the big east.

Of course, you have to go back close to a decade to find any real noteworthy basketball accomplishments from ACC schools other than Duke or UNC. I mean, let's not pretend that any of the other 10 schools are hoops assets these days. Since the ACC expanded to 12 teams in 06, after Duke and UNC the rest of the hoops landscape has been atrocious. Six seasons into its existence as a 12 team league, the conference has had a grand total of two appearances in the Sweet 16 by schools not named Duke or UNC. Meanwhile the Big East has seen the same number of programs (4) reach the Final 4 in its 6 years as a 16 team league, and almost half its members (7) appear in the Sweet 16 at least once in the same span. And as we head into the the coming season, these trends are reflected in the pre-season polls, with <shocker> Duke and UNC being the only current ACC members in the polls, and 4 Big East teams not named SU or Pitt being ranked. One might point out in referencing the Rutgers', DePaul's and Providence's of the league that the bottom of the ACC was stronger than the bottom of the Big East, woo-hoo! that is something to be proud of.

Having Syracuse Pitt Louisville (?) West Virginia and who knows whom else leave the Big East will change this paradigm. Right now, the ACC is getting whooped in recruiting because the Big East is the clear best conference in the country, and definitely the best in the East, where both conferences get the vast majority of their talent. Having two of the top 4 programs in the Big East leave for the ACC will dramatically change the pub we get. Right now, the Big East is the big loser, and even if nobody in the ACC takes the low road in recruiting (yeah right), these kids will hear about that fact whenever a Big East school is recruiting against an ACC school. The shift will occur rapidly. If Coleman were considering UK, OSU and SU and we had just been left behind, does he choose us? Does it even enter a kids mind? I would have to bet it does. The Big East looks way less attractive with four of its best basketball teams leaving, and that will hurt recruiting. The ACC will be the best basketball conference again, and very soon.
