Moore to Bills per BuffaloBills.com

McD is the obvious choice here, as WR is his specialty. I don't think he would mind wearing 2 hats with all these new receivers coming in. Would like to see a dedicated ST coach who is a hell of a recruiter, yes, NY/ NJ ties would be perfect, but VA/ MD/ DC would be good too. Good luck Rob, we appreciate all you've done, but you're now where you belong.

Coordinators are often always position coaches to. Always. That's normal.

Everybody speculated last year that Moore would be the first to go and that MacDonald would take over WR's. that's obviously now come to fruition.

This appears on the surface to have been orchestrated for some time now.

Don't care where the ties are as long as the recruiter is top notch. eastern seaboard to the tip of south Florida would be fine and would even prefer ACC experience or SEC riser with a rep.

Happy to see the board is not blowing up into a "I HATE MARRONE" mode.

Marrone went through Shafer and it seems did it respectfully.

Marrone hired Moore and it seems like they left the college game for the same reasons. I think Moore, like Marrone is a better coach than recruiter.

Can we please get a NY/NJ guy? Shafer talks about locking down NY, but has no recruiter who knows landscape well.. I'd like him to sacrifice hiring an old friend to get a home run recruiter.

If it didn't happen before, is it going to happen now?

Good question. Age may be a factor as well as long term impact vs. immediate short term benefit.

Anyone left looking after the coaching changes at Vandy, and PSU or even Wake?

“We celebrate Rob Moore’s opportunity to coach in the National Football League with the Buffalo Bills and look forward to recruiting the next best person to help our program attack the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2014. We have communicated our plan with our team and our National Letter of Intent signees. As soon as we hire our new coach, we look forward to introducing him to Cuse Nation.”

I think that's where coach Moore belongs and he will do a great job for the Bills. Looking forward to seeing who Coach Shafer brings in as a replacement - so far he's had a knack for finding great fits for this staff.

Good luck Rob. I was pissed at Marrone last year, but this recruiting class has so reinforced the idea of NFL vs College guy for me. I realize some can do both like Carroll but the majority really seem to excel at one over the other. Marrone and his NFL staff and NFL approach might be the only thing that could have really changed the culture left behind by Grob. But the NFL guys did their job and I'm happy to see them move on. If they don't like the college game(recruiting, hand holding, kissing mommies butt, etc) then go do what you're good at and coach those multi-millionaire personalities. Let's get guys in here who know how to make high school kids want to come here.

If they decide to solidify their Florida connections, I'd love to see HCSS tap Rocco Casullo or McDonld's buddy Jeff Bertrani.

I have heard from a very reliable source that the Casullo's really like and respect HCSS and that Rocco might be ready to take the next step.

Very happy for RM. Class act who will be a great pro coach.

Will be interesting who Shafer hires. I would expect it to be someone that he has coached with in the past based on his family approach.

for us to rise to 1990's level again i think we have to be 3rd or 4th in nj recruiting order -notre lame then pedd state then syracuse -

way to much talent way to close to not take advantage of - rutgers is all but dead -
they are going to try and play in the big on a meac budget -so i doubt they ever keep a solid coach if they do stumble into one

so lets get a st guy who can get us some top notch nj talent

This next hire could be very crucial. This can't be another buddy from the midwest. I really want to see this hire be an ace recruiter, or even a well respected HS coach from NJ, or So Fla like RMH said above.

Please get this right

Just heard on the radio from Shafer, Marrone asked Shafer for permission. Shafer granted permission and after looking at the job Moore came back and said he wanted to take it. The deal wasn't sealed until today apparently so the recruits didnt know.

He did say McDonald would take the WRs and they would look to find the best person for the empty spot. Unsure if he meant McDonald will coach the WRs permanently or the new coach will be a WR coach.

The host asked about whether the recruits will be upset. He said the recruits committed to a Syracuse Univ education not a certain coach. It's a business, yadda yadda yadda.
Find a recruiter and let McDonald handle the WRs. Find someone who cleans up on the recruiting circuit, I don't care what his ties are.

Sounds like Marrone did SU a favor and his buddy Shafer a good deed by waiting until NSD was over to finalize the deal.

If Shafer is looking externally for an offensive coach/recruiter, I'd look at Temple's staff first. They brought in a really strong class even with crap results on the field. Foley as TE coach is perfect. Golden hired him, Addazio held on to him, and Rhule couldn't let him go either. He was recruiting coordinator for Golden and Addazio. They'll have to pay him, though.

That's uncalled for.

Guy is great alum and rep. He didn't need to come here when he did. He did the program a favor.
Go he was infact a terrible recruiter. Not a poor one he was down right terrible at it just like Doug. I think he was a very good coach but keys be honest here. He didnt have the make-up of a college coach.

how about someone with ties to northeast and Baltimore/Virginia area

Hey, the program did him a favor too. If not for Marrone, maybe he's still an assistant at Phoenix JC.

Losing Moore is going to hurt our staff IMO.

We had a bunch of quality recruiting guys on the staff, Moore was an exceptional coach, and did a lot of very good things with our WR's the past few years.

I want to hope we can bring in an elite WR coach that can also double as an elite recruiter, but those guys don't grow on trees.

Here's hoping that we can get a top notch coach in here to coach up the crazy good WR talent we just added.

If Shafer is OK with it who I am to complain?

FHCDM asked permission so that absolves him in my book. Correct thing to do.

Shafer of course would not hold him back - also correct thing to do.

Another SU coach to the NFL - also a good thing.

Shafer knows how to hire a staff - so no worries.

Kool Kid was cool taking the WR - recruits will be OK with that I think.

Great job for somebody - cupboard is full!

And nobody can convince me they didn't wait until after NSD.

It looks like the WR job is now McDonald's, and the new role will be with a different position. I am hoping for a special teams coach.

I would love Shafer to pop one of those Florida head coaches (how about Willie Hill?) and let McDonald and him do work in Florida.

If I had a choice b/w being good in NJ or really good in FL, give me FL.
