My Take

Early on they made some really tough shots and we missed some really unlucky easy shots ... but what stood out the most was the inability to rebound. That's where we are missing Rick Jackson the most.

Nice post Tom. Sure hope Christmas and Sutherland can contribute against high caliber teams like they did tonight.

Very important tactical question. Did anyone notice that there are just 9 dance team members? I could have sworn that there had been 12 or so before. Are some on injured reserve? etc ;)

Dion yes, scoop not so much.
we disagree here. brandon hasn't shown me the ability so far to break his man down off the dribble and penetrate.
quite the opposite in fact. brandon with the ball in traffic underneath usually doesn't end well for us. doesn't draw rim or contact. i saw him last night drive deep on the base line and try to dish a pass underneath to one of the bigs who was smothered. like a bad alley oop pass it really should have gone in the turnover category. brandon is playing with more confidence this past 2 weeks and i hope it continues. but better to the tin than scoop or dion. no.imo.

Another game where pretty much everyone played well. The subs did badly in the first half but played great in the 2nd. CJ had a quiet game and had some problems finishing. I think a lot of that is due to the EMU zone. He is definitely better against man defenses.

Love JS covering the inbounds man when we press. He is great at it. Seems like he is a player who blows hot or cold, but rarely anywhere in between. He was certainly on today. He is playing defense much better this year; a light when on somewhere on that side of the ball. And he is showing signs of rebounding better too. When he is on, he can score points faster than anyone else on the team. Just wish he was a tad more consistent after going scoreless in MSG last week.

I think CJ and JS's PT this year will be largely a matter if teams zone us or play M2M. It's clear that James is better against a zone by far and terrible M2M. CJ is the opposite. Would have liked to see James get more than 6 minutes at MSG too, but those were both dominant CJ games.

Murray: Well, it's not just you, Bret. It's all the time. And it's not just "ginger balls", you know?
Bret: I thought that was your nickname.
Murray: No!

Yes. A thousand times over, yes.

After New York, I'm resigned to the fact that Boeheim doesn't see it that way, though.

I think JB does see it that way, but Christmas isn't ready yet and he wanted to win in NYC. The fact that in the easy games he has given Christmas loads of time at the 4 and the 5 as well as calling his number offensively a lot in the 2nd half of these games indicates that JB is trying to bring him along and get him ready.

Some strange things going on with the dance team...I noticed a couple of them sit out at least some routines, just sit there behind the basket and watch the others do their thing. Not sure if they are banged up, redshirting, only know some routines, etc. Maybe there is a dance team penalty box I know nothing about.

We need a dance team insider on this board.

i'd like to volunteer for this assignment. come crabs or high water i'd like to get to the bottoms of these allegations.
