What has been happening and now snowballing is a VERY dangerous thing. Apathy doesn't happen abruptly, it just chips away and is tough to recover. Coming from a diehard cuse fan, I used to never even think about aborting from a game early. I would gut out losses (even ugly ones) as a fan. Now, no damn way. Today, I stopped watching BEFORE halftime. BEFORE HALFTIME!

I'm sick and tired of watching a bull sh$T approach to the game, throwing guys out who don't know their role, limited talent, etc. I'm an optimistic kind of person, but I'm not a fool. What I've been watching and continue to see is just terrible. I have never been this low as a cuse fan, going back to when I became a diehard when I was a freshman in 89. Sad. Just really Sad.

Yep, going through the exact same and the apathy is real. I used to plan my schedule around SU games and would know the entire schedule with dates and times far in advance. Now I basically only know the next team we play, but don’t even know the date let alone time. I actually miss having days, even weeks and months (if it was an NCAA tourney loss) ruined by a loss. I miss the feeling and atmosphere in the Dome for a big game that felt like a heavyweight fight between two ranked teams where I would be jacked and expecting a win. I want to truly care again, but am afraid that won’t happen until a new coach is hired at least.

I have been a diehard for decades. I remember when the standing rule at home was do not make any plans to do anything during the month of March because it was ultimate basketball season.

Oh for those days again. Now, I think about turning the game off. Someday soon it will happen.

I never imagined Syracuse could be this bad at basketball. My earliest Cuse hoops memories are in the early 90s and for 20+ years I just expected us to be good and sometimes GREAT. For years we fielded teams that were good enough to beat ANYONE on any given night. We had tough, gritty guys. We had leaders. We played with a little swagger and a lot of hustle. This current product honestly depresses me. Im torn, as I don't want to be a fairweather fan, but I can't stand to watch the current state of the program. It's beyond unfortunate, and Red seems like a great guy, but he's way out of his element here. I hope we move on and do a national search after this season, and I wish Red nothing but health, happiness and success.

I can understand why Syracuse wouldn’t have SEC money, but why not on par with a school like UConn, which ain’t much bigger and arguably was a peer back in the Big East days. Were we just slow to move toward NIL?

1. We are behind the times as a school. 2. Some insiders have eluded to Red not being as aggressive too get NIL from donors and people cause he’s friendly and it might feel awkward doing so. 3. UConn only worry’s about basketball for NIL compared to us having to do basketball and football.

Guys that drove me crazy like Scoop, Michael Edwards, JB Reefsnyder, Todd Burgan, Frank Howard, etc I would absolutely LOVE to have on this team right about now. Hell, give me a James Theus, Glenn Sekunda, Rock Lloyd, Anthony Harris or Bobby Lazor!
Throw in Dave Siock also

UConn has pizza money behind them. When you cross into CT, they have a sign that says “CT, home of the best pizza in the USA”. How can we ever compete with that NIL avalanche.

I agree, your point #3 would apply to all the Big East schools, which would be an advantage for them.

Diehard since this little kid discovered SU FB and BB in 1970-71 season. I wasn't excited to turn on the game today (I knew)...essentially stopped watching at 26-11. Checked the score a few times after switching to Football and doing work around the house.

We peaked in 2014...it has been downhill since despite the mirage of 3-4 good to great NCAA runs. I see a losing season this year...if Cuse manages to finish 1 or 2 games above .500% it will be the best case scenario this year.

Coach Red needs some answers to get the team to play as a team. The clock is ticking.

I tuned out at halftime, a first for this diehard fan since 1971!!! I don't blame Red. We are in a terrible situation. Maybe next year we could break out. If not...

But don’t worry we have now decided to enter the facilities race 30 years too late. We will focus on NIL when everyone else shifts to whatever the next thing is. SU is so reactive and always late to the game.

It seems like every thread on .this forum is an echo of every other thread on here. I bet if we combine all threads into one no one could tell the difference lol. Sadly that's the state of SU basketball.

Everyone is talking about how bad we are in the NIL games, I am just curious if anyone knows how bad it is for non revenue sports? Is it even worse say for getting women BB talents! What about track & field or curling or bicycling?

The most
Pathetic thing is that Orange fans now yearn for a return to a higher level of play: mediocrity.

This team’s level - if it continues in future years - will soon result in SU taking payments early season to visit top programs as a patsy.

Nil or no NiL there’s no reason a team can’t play solid defense. This team plays almost no defense. Players just wave goodbye as their men blow by them. And no one seems
To care.

Yesterday, I had the PSU/SMU game on my big screen, and the SU/Maryland game on my iPad. Any other season that would have been absolutely inconceivable, but that's where we are now unfortunately. It was so depressing to watch that I didn't want it any bigger than like 8 x 10.

You only THINK about turning the game off. Wow, you are a diehard fan (and I really mean that). I see little sense in watching this garbage and getting my anger/frustration up at all.

No way in a million years would I watch a PSU game where they clobbered their opponent. SMU performed almost as bad as Cuse yesterday. I watched the entire Cuse game. If I was to switch, it would have been something totally different, like a Xmas movie.

We have more NIL money than UConn I would bet. They don't fund Football NIL like we do.

I am getting closer and closer to saying, "I cannot do this any more." End of January/start of February we need to go out of town. In November I told my wife we needed to schedule around basketball home games. Last week, I said no need to worry about the home games; just pick the days that work best for us. Season ticket renewal? They barely got me to hang on this year. Next year is very doubtful.

Crouse advertises at half-court "take me to Crouse".

SU basketball proceeds to give a million people heart attacks.

Crouse profits go through the roof.

Crouse funds NIL program with all the excess profits.

Program rebounds.

Circle of life.
