NBA 2018-2019

I was rooting for the Raptors because they had never won but Golden State kept losing players so I couldn't help but root for them, too. it reminded me of this sequence from my favorite Woody Allen film.

Really wish both teams were full strength. Klay leaving was huge. Curry had such a good look at the end but it was off a really risky inbounds pass that scrambled it a bit

I wish more stars had the mindsight of Kawhi but I don’t think other stars would do what he did.
NBA stars want either superteams or elite markets to make marketing dollars.
I don't know.

If a player is under contract, get them on the roster and see what happens.

Well-deserved MVP for Leonard.

Not an inappropriate choice. Although I'd have liked to see them make a co-winner of Siakam and VanVleet. lots of story lines there. Lowry the greatest Raptor in their history (screw you both Carter and McGrady). And they don't win this without Gasol. I liked Valenciunas, but MG was a rock, and a big presence in big games. He fairly made their defense into an NBA finals level.

I like Doris Burke but cmon with that DeRozen chit. He had nothing to do with them winning.
Doris this sentimental crap you are trying to get out these guys now Marc Gasol isn’t necessary.

Between the third and fourth quarters, she told Kerr about the heart and class his team had shown and asked "What do you expect from your team in the fourth quarter?" Kerr: "More of the same."

What did she expect him to say?

She is a great analyst. I would replace Mark Jackson with her but her interviews were poor tonight.

Kawhi is the perfect superstar. He doesn’t show an ego and isn’t selfish.

He will be a pro. I don’t think other stars would be the pro he has been in Toronto.

Spurs might disagree.

So was it a softball, a commercial, or a paid political announcement? :)

Kawhi didn’t trust the Spurs doctors.
So he requested a trade. Nothing unprofessional with that.

And others may say that he collected $19m, played 9 games and quit on his teammates.

Well, we say that with confidence now.

But when things got weird with the Spurs and the word was it was LA or bust, he wasn't quite viewed that way. There was even some speculation he wouldn't play for Toronto - Kawhi Leonard Reportedly Warming to Idea of Playing for Raptors After Trade

Kawhi has earned all the accolades he's getting, but we shouldn't pretend the perception was always that Kawhi wasn't a diva.

Okay, fair enough. Owners have a long history of using players up like shredded cheese on nachos. On a larger level, this discussion reminds me of the one over on the Gang Green (NY Jets) board when they signed Le'veon Bell. Many of the faithful were arguing that he was a "comes every day, gives 100%, great teammate" guy. Really? He sat out an entire season for money, when his team had a legit shot at the Super Bowl. Fans need to get the stars out of their eyes. It's a business, and that's a two way street.

And to get back on topic, yes Leonard is a terrific player and put the Raptors over the hump. Yes, he's a top five player on a pretty good run. But the Michael Jordan comparisons have to end. This series proved that.

Pretty sure his family became more involved at some point and essentially started calling the shots. Not 100%. But remember reading that last year. Tony Parker got pissed at him and the rest is history.
There is a .0001% chance of him not going to LAC or LAL imho

Yeah, I want to say a weird uncle is involved.

Usually when you hear about an uncle, it ends up being weird.

Yup that was it, like he started managing him pretty sure.
Has there been a more dynamic athlete personality than kawhi Leonard, he’s giving marvin Harrison a run for his money. My god he’s putting me to sleep

This is what I'm thinking. He's going to say "I've accomplished everything I set out to do here" and pull the pin. Face it, he's an American who's been living in another country. I know a little something about the adjustment. Today he has the entire world at his feet. Why wouldn't he want to go live someplace where he's more comfortable, more accustomed to the daily life? I've been wrong before, he may stay in Toronto, but I'll be surprised if he does.

They're saying Thompson torn ACL. The injuries this post season were more like an NFL battle of attrition.
