NBA 2018-2019

Guess what Laker fans. You can’t fire the owner. Take that from a Knicks fan. You’re stuck with Jeannie until she hands the team to Kobe.

Pelinka is a liar. Heath Ledger passed away six months before the release of The Dark Knight.

"I don't stand for mistakes!" Johnson shouted at her. "I don't make mistakes."

Hot take: having an infinite amount of reckless sexual intercourse with random people in the 1980s probably constitutes a mistake, in retrospect.

I can’t remember a time up here (because it hasn’t happened) when virtually everyone is talking about basketball and not hockey final.

2 parts of that story that stood out, that haven't been mentioned

1) the deal where Pelinka was sitting in on coaches meetings, Luke confronted him about it and said Bob Myers didn't do it when he (luke) was in GS, only to have Pelinka say that Myers did it now, which was a lie
2) the whole KCP situation, I had totally forgot the details on that one. What a weird story

I forgot about Rich Paul going up to Adam Silver when they were (randomly?) having lunch at the same place and telling him he didn't want Luke coaching the Lakers!

That is just beyond odd.

This guy...what the hell is his motivation for telling stories like that? Odd.

Not to be mean, but he just looks like he’d be weird.

I had many criticisms of Luke’s coaching as far as his rotations and substitutions and minutes distributions well before this year, but I’ve gotta admire his restraint if he never told any of these guys to go screw themselves.

Now granted, he doesn’t really have the juice to do that yet. But still. Had to be really tempting.

Just going to say this, somehow evil David Stern would not have allowed the Lakers and Knicks to be this messed up at the same time.

I like Adam Silver and think he's been amazing. Just saying Stern would have lit people up for this situation.

This was one of the parts I don’t know if I believe. Who was his source on this? I doubt Adam Silver, Mav Carter or Rich Paul told him or did he happen to get lucky and track down a random waiter or patron at a nearby table that overheard it unless Paul was using that poor of judgement and yelling for all to hear.

And why would Rich Paul be lobbying to Adam Silver for Walton to not be coach anymore and Silver has to be smart enough to not ask who Paul would want to replace Walton just because he knows that’s a conversation that is awful for the commissioner to participate in.

Silver loves being loved.
Stern liked being a troll.
Silver has a done a lot of good but the guy panders too much and he has allowed these core franchises to flounder.

If the Sanders trial happened in the Silver Era he could have possibly forced Dolan to sell the team.

IMO the main sources are Lakers employees who were fired by Magic when he became the team President.

It’s all retribution hearsay in that story.

I don't know!! None of it really makes any sense! Adam Silver isn't firing head coaches

I do take your point though.

There was a Canadian poll just done which I heard this morning.

72% of Canadians are following the NBA Final more than the Stanley Cup.

On one hand you can say it should be higher than 72%. But given the level of puckheads who detest basketball it is an impressive stat.

Who would be dumb enough to take on that Chris Paul contract? I mean besides the Lakers.

I think they could probably find teams willing to take him. The bigger question is who would be willing to trade enough for him that it would actually benefit the Rockets; I think that list is very small and possibly non-existent.

That contract is so big, I guess there will be teams that could take him into cap space. But like you said, you'd then need a team willing to give the Rockets something; Paul is still really good. Seems impossible to find a match?
