NBA playoffs: greatest show on Earth

"college basketball is better than the NBA" - people who don't watch the NBA.

Pros and cons to each:

NBA pros - phenomenal talent, greatest players in the world. Refs generally let the players play and they call the game in a more consistent manner. Playoff intensity is usually pretty high. Old saw that these guys don't play defense is nonsense, particularly in the playoffs. International players have added a lot to the mix.
NBA cons- unending regular season, often looks as guys are just going through the motions. Many arenas in reg season look like they're filled with mannequins - environment is dead. Recently poor competitive balance. Same teams over and over, series not very competitive. Most major market teams currently suck. Tanking is a serious issue. Guys taking full games off en masse is not a good look.

NCAA pros - tournament is the greatest show on earth. Even the NCAA can't eph it up. Always great no matter who is involved. Incredible endings, shocking upsets. You can't beat one and done.
NCAA cons - Refs are awful, very inconsistent and play too big a role in the outcome. Therefore five foul rule is terrible. Talent has been sharply diminished over the years as players leave early. Need to move the three line back. Too easy a shot and therefore has become a 3 pt shooting contest.

The line for this game was Boston -4.
Middleton’s 3 screwed people who bet on Milwaukee.

This series is likely going 7.
Celtics have no bench with Rozier starting for Kyrie.
With days off they will be fine fatigue wise.

If the C’s are lucky to win this series Smart should be back for the 2nd round.

TrueBlue the celtics can only pay one of Smart or Rozier. I think he will pay Rozier. Smart will likely be sign and traded this offseason.

He has made himself some money this year.

Yeah, God forbid people who post on a board devoted to a college athletics program actually are fans of college basketball. I have no problem admitting the pro game is better played, but I like college basketball better for other reasons like the emotional attachment to teams and players that I just don't have for the NBA, except for being a casual Celtics fan.

I genuinely like you as a poster. but it does get a bit tiresome going to the Syracuse basketball board and constantly hearing from the same group of posters nothing else but how unwatchable college basketball is, especially when you just base that off watching our games, which I admit are a tough watch at times.

I realize there are improvements that need to be made, but it gets old having to defend being a college basketball fan on a college basketball board. I realize I'm on your turf now, so I will leave you be now that I've said my piece.

He’s sweet. Cavs may have to put Kendrick on him, although I think the Cavs are saving him for Lance.

Yeah, he’s all over the court and explosive. Doesn’t take plays off. Didn’t realize he led the league in steals.

LeBron James is the only player on Cleveland that even tries to play defense.
The Cavs can’t defend PGs.

Perimeter defense has been an issue all year, but offense, not defense, the problem today. Open shots galore — a plus of playing with LeBron — and misses galore. Eighty points, not good.

Bron has earned a mulligan, but there is no way they can drop two in Cleveland and survive with their defense.

Guys have to hit open shots and the D just has to be better. Seems like CLE was sleepwalking today.
