NBA playoffs: greatest show on Earth

I don't want to say fire Brett Brown. But man. Don't you need to have some kind of plays in the bag for a situation like that? I get it's a super young team, but I dunno.

Possibly worth pointing out; under the NBA rules from last year I am pretty sure Philly would have a TO, but they went down from 3 TO in the last 2 minutes to 2.

Their late game unpreparedness is the only reason I really see it as a distinct possibility (along with the fact that there are a lot of intriguing candidates out there this offseason, with possibly guys like Dwane Casey being added to the mix soon too).

Not related to the playoffs, but Luka Doncic recorded the first triple double that the Spanish league has seen in over a decade, and he did it in 22 minutes while shooting 100% from the field.

Oh. that seems good.

With Simmons on the floor, Philly was outscored by 12.6 points per game. 3 of the other 5 guys that started in this series were in the POSITIVES. It's almost unfathomable how much he hurt Philly in this series and Brown just continued to play him.

He absolutely needs to get a jump shot. He can be great against 90% of the teams with his current skill set, but in the playoffs he'll continue to hurt his team once they run into a solid team/good coach.

RoCo also really killed them last night, as well. Don't want to just pick on Simmons. But Simmons talks a lot of junk for someone that can't shoot.

He's been #1 on my big board for months. I would kill for him to go to the Knicks. But at this point, they'd have to start a rumor that he has scurvy or ebola or something to get him to fall to us.

We're just gonna win the lottery. We're due.

Actually it would be extremely Knicks to win the lottery and take Ayton. (Most knicks thing might be taking Bagley I guess)

You're right. I'm glad Boston's talent won over Philly's talent though. Quite a nail biter at the end. Wait til the young guys on both teams get a couple more years under their belts.

Not a Celtics or Sixers fan but I’m surprised nobodies mentioned on that last play, when Smart caught the long pass he traveled. Should have been Sixers ball with about 1 second to play at their end of the court.

It's been mentioned a few times already.

That's not an NBA travel....

I think maybe you can get away letting it go by arguing Smart didn't control the ball when he first caught it and landed?

I totally remember there was a conf tournament game like 10 years ago where something like that happened, they called the travel, and the team banked in a 3 or something to win it. I vividly remember coming back from the SU-Gtown BE tournament game in 2006 and seeing the highlights. I don't want to look it up to prove myself wrong, so let's go with it happened 12 years ago.

This would be my guess, but it sure looked like it could have been called.

What would have been helpful for Philly is if they had a better play drawn up then a hail mary throw. Tough to get a call on a play that looked like there had been no coaching involved.

OKC has to be the most short sighted team in the league. The right coach/organization would’ve paid Harden and put him at PG, put Russ at the 2 to manage his ball hogging, and made KD play exactly like he’s playing for the Warriors. And they’d own the league.

What a squandered opportunity.

I know Zach Lowe wrote a piece a while back, and they probably could've kept Harden and maybe paid the tax one year. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad as they thought at the time. Some of that is hindsight, and injuries hurt them, but to think they had Harden/Westbrook/Durant as young studs and got one finals appearance out of it is hard to fathom.
