NBA playoffs: greatest show on Earth

I think the Warriors handle the rockets in 6, max.

I don't think Rockets beat the Cavs. I think the Warriors do.

rockets would beat the cavs like a drum. pelicans and jazz would give both the celtics and the cavs all they could handle and they collectively earned two wins and eight losses vs the warriors and rockets.

Fun fact: Ben Simmons is the first guard/forward since the 1992-1993 season to play at least 2500 minutes without making a 3 pointer.

The most recent guard/forward to play that many minutes while attempted 11 or less (Simmons attempted 11) was Avery Johnson in the 1999-2000 season but he made 1 of his.

I think I mentioned this here, maybe not, but the 11 3's is even more amazing because basketball reference classifies 8 them as "heaves", so end of the quarter or what have you. He attempted 3 actual 3 pointers all season.

I just looked up the Avery Johnson season, Tim Duncan (11) took more 3's than Avery did (9). in 93-94, Avery was 0-12 all season on 3's; just misses the minutes cut off though, 2332.

Basketball-Reference has it wrong; they're ALL heaves. I went back and watched the videos of each attempt on NBA.com and literally all of them are buzzer beaters. He had like 3 within halfcourt but they were all just runners.

This video has almost all of them:

That's maybe my new favorite video. That's fantastic.

On a side note; the play they did starting at about 38 seconds is probably what they should've tried at the end of game 5.

I always liked Avery Johnson'd game, despite the shooting.

Plus as a coach he once accidentally smacked one of his bench players in the boys and it was hilarious.

Yeah, those full court passes have such a tiny margin for success; I would have much rather tried to free Redick or Covington up in the backcourt and just see what they can do than to throw that awful pass.

Simmons' shooting is seriously problematic though. I know teams don't scout nearly as hard in the regular season, but it blows my mind that nobody really adjusted to him well during the regular season. But not even being capable of attempting a 3 point shot will make it so easy for teams to gameplan against Philly in the playoffs IMO, and it's another reason why I don't really think they should be targeting LeBron in free agency. I think targeting guys like Klay, Paul George, CJ McCollum, etc. make more sense.

No surprise there

I'm just going to say that if Toronto hires Budenholzer before Milwaukee hires a coach, I'm going to be very, very upset.

Is Bud your #1?

Bud was my pick for the Knicks, I'm ok with Fiz, he will probably be solid. But I think Bud is real good. Bucks should for sure be on him

The athletic reporting that Klay is discussing an extension with the Warriors, would save them a ton of $.

Fiz was my guy, but I when Bud was all of a sudden available, I paused and thought...or him.

Bud would be great for the Bucks roster.

Come on, Klay. This is saving luxury tax dollars, nothing else. This is just for the owners. Even if he takes this discount, the Warriors are going to be filling out the bench with guys off the scrap heap, doesn't matter if he takes the extra money or not.

Only way this makes sense if there is something behind-the-scenes with the owners/VC group/other endeavors that Klay is going to get into as a thank you for saving them luxury tax money.

There's no way a tech bro ownership group would even consider such a thing.*

*That's exactly what's really on the table.

Klay and Steph might have the Magic Johnson we will give you a piece of the team for all you have done when you retire deal.
Tom Brady is believed to have a piece of the Patriots sold to him cheap when he retires as well.

Doesn't Brady have businesses that don't pay rent to the Kraft empire too?
