NBA Thread 2020-21 Season

Clippers have a chance to win it all.
But they also have a decent chance to fully implode, nearly miss or miss the playoffs. Kawhi then leaves and takes his water gallon penis thrusting act elsewhere.

Is Jared Dudley normally this fat?

Lol, I thought the same. He looked like a guy who is way too gung ho on defense at your local YMCA pickup games last season, but thought he looked noticeably bigger tonight too.

I can’t believe he’s still got a roster spot. He really must be an incredible locker room guy/mentor for the young players.

Interesting that the Lakers are playing such a short bench for a pre-season game. Different strategies I suppose on how to get your team up to speed.

Clippers have played 17 guys tonight -- nobody more than 21 minutes.
Lakers have played 8 tonight.
Raptors last night played 17 players as well.

Is there a Covid issue that I am overlooking? Not really listening to the game that closely and could not find anything on google.

Talen Horton Tucker looks incredible tonight. Highly intriguing young player.

Everyone raving about him. Sounds like he’s a rotation player this year.

Dudley was signed to watch film, practice and be a liaison between players and coaches. Nice gig for 2.5.

Certainly a flawed player (0 points in his debut lol), but man, LaMelo is gonna make the Hornets fun to watch again.
Those passes looked like Jason Kidd stuff.

He can’t play defense or shoot like Kidd as well.

Took Kidd a number of years before he could shoot though. They were calling him Ason Kidd(no J), early on.

He is the Josh McCown of the NBA. Just picking up checks for an extra 5 years for being good for the kids and elevates team chemistry.

Reports I saw said that his defense is much better than what was expected. Not going to be league average in year 1 but folks pleasantly surprised.

Gotta say I didn't see him re-upping.
Maybe not in the past but no reason not to nowadays. Guarantee yourself the most amount of money you can get and can just force your way to wherever you want in 2 years if you're unhappy. No downside.

Same. A lot of owners have to be breathing a sigh of relief with this.

Good for Milwaukee. They have a good core and should be the 1 or 2 seed in the east for the foreseeable future.

Worst case, he demands to leave in a few years and Milwaukee can get a king's ransom for him.

Now that he signed, the Luka watch is on. I know he's got a while, but there is no way that the Lakers aren't already tampering.

Wonder if the foreign guys are easier to keep happier than the dudes here that have been coddled and allowed to do whatever they wanted since they were kids. Never have to persevere and just change AAU and HS teams on a whim if they aren't allowed to do what they want.

I think it's tough to do broad strokes like that, imo. Giannis had some pretty rough times, if I remember his upbringing, for what he had to do to just have the basics. Whereas Luka has been in the spotlight and been celebrated for a long time (wasn't his dad a pro player?).

I do get your point though, I could see the appeal of stability (along with almost a quarter billion dollars) for someone like him, especially just having a kid/starting a family. I think it also matters if you are on a team that has a stable organization behind it. I think Edens and Lasry have done a good job of that.

Also, for those kids that jump ship on AAU or HS teams, while I personally am not a fan of it, I don't necessarily fault them. There are some scummy people trying to use those kids to make money. You got to do what you got to do.

Back to my other Luka comment in this thread, I absolutely think the Lakers are going to start laying tracks down for him now that Giannis isn't going there (or at least not likely going there), no matter how long they have to wait for him.
