NBA Thread 2020-21 Season

This is the least excited I've been about a draft ever. The Anthony Bennett year is close but MCW was going to be a lotto pick so that was enough to boost it over this crapfest.

This is one of the more exciting drafts in recent memory for me lol. I live for the questionable draft classes and also for the uncertainty in draft ranges where guys like Tyrell Terry are projected as anywhere from the lottery to mid-2nd round.

Yeah, I guess that part is interesting because the only consensus at this point is that there is none. We have a guess at most of the lotto guys but they all have wide ranges of where they could go outside of Edwards seemingly guaranteed in the top 3.

First, I think this draft is awful. I think that at least two players from 2021 and two players from 2022 would go in the top four over anyone in this draft if they were eligible today at the least (Cade, Green, Emoni, Chet Holmgren).

I think LaMelo will not be good. He's a head case, brings a whole slew of issues with him, can't shoot, defend or play without the ball.

He hasn't played in a truly structured system in three years.

I would be trying to trade out of any position in the lottery. If I had to take a flyer on any player it would be Wiseman early and maybe Terry late (as a solid role player).
I agree I would be trying to move out of the lottery too. No shooters in this draft and that is one thing that in my opinion rarely improves to the level needed for where some of these guys are going to get picked.

Aaron Nesmith can shoot.
He is a guy I want at 14. He actually has a that one skill that can be elite and be in an NBA rotation from this draft.
His problem is athleticism to play NBA defense.

I hear you. I didn't mean literally "none" just none that would be trading up into the Top 5 or even Top 10 for.

You know the term "generational talent" is getting thrown around too often where there are apparently 3 of them in what is considered a bad draft
I don't know when that phrase started being used. 1st I really recall was the Connor McDavid/Jack Eichel NHL Tankathon year. Now it's constantly said and used stupidly like in this thread.

Knicks could offer 8, 23, the 2021 and 2023 Dallas picks and likely get LaMelo Ball if he doesn’t go 1.

That is what Bobby Marks thinks is happening. Knicks would stupid to include any of their own future picks to pick move up in this draft.

Yeah, I'm excited because it's always weirdly entertaining, although since it will all be done remote we'll miss out on the fun extra things like which player has the best looking "date," which player has an unusually attractive mom, which player came in with high hopes and sits for a really long time, how players handle wearing the hat of a team they know they won't play for because they were traded, which players make an attempt at cutting edge fashion and whiff to an incredible degree, the commentators finding new ways to describe players that at best wander into double entendre and at worst are overt dick jokes, which player(s) end up executing an excessively long genitals to genitals hug with Silver when their pick is announced...

I consider it one of the few remaining must-see TV events. Hopefully in the absence of the live weirdness there are some clever remote surprises cooked up.

Knicks fans ... if they trade into the top spot , who’d they take ?

They aren't getting that high without giving up Robinson I imagine but it would be for Ball.

There are 3 possible Generational talents if they hit. Wiseman only played in 3 games Edward's was on a bad Georgia team and Lamelo was overseas. So none based of their seasons are guaranteed.
There's that word again.

Misused as usual.

I admire your consistency.

It's every year with RB in the NFL draft too

Good lord. I mean, this would be a very Knicks-ian thing to do, but this is the height of stupidity.

Boston could use a Carmelo off their bench.
They don’t have much scoring off their bench.
I think he could fit their especially if they trade Hayward.
This Hayward opting in or out is strange. Not sure if Hayward thinks he is going to get a great deal or do a sign and trade to a team of his choosing. Hayward won't get another 34 million but some sucker might give him a four or five year deal at a discount.

Hayward wants to go home to Indiana.

Boston isn’t going to trade him to Indiana until they know what they are doing in other deals.
Robert Williams/Gordon Hayward for Myles Turner/Doug McDermott is unofficially official within Boston media.

Hayward is threatening to opt out and go to Atlanta so he doesn’t get dealt to a team he doesn’t want.

They would be fools to do that, its the Knicks so they probably will, there is no one in this draft worth trading up for. Robinson is actually one piece they have that is a keeper.

Sounds like the general consensus is the Knicks are trying to move up for Obi Toppin.
So could get him at 4 or 5.
Shouldn’t cost that much.
Atlanta wants a guard is the consensus.

8 and 23 for 5 could work.
