NBA Thread 2021-22 Season

That’s fair. And true.

Maybe I’m showing too much bias towards Steph. Do
They got beat by 30. If Golden State doesn’t turn it over 15 times in the first half it would have been a lot worse. They may want to try to play some defense. That was a layup drill last night.
Outside of the first 6 minutes or so, when Memphis went up 13, they got beat by 43 points.

Maybe it’s just me, but Philly's home atmosphere absolutely sucks compared to the other arenas and is much quieter overall.

There are a lot of players and teams that I would never root for in a million years and Harden/Sixers and Paul/Suns are definitely top two.

This Philly-Miami series should have been a sweep for Philly.
I thought Miami made a huge tactical error when they kept shooting up threes and missing while Embiid was out of the game instead of driving the ball inside.

Glad Embiid made it back. Nothing worse than when star players go down.

Harden finally looked like the old Harden tonight.

I love Maxey.
For all the crap harden gets for bs fouls .. Lowry spends half the game running his fat ass into people , falling down , and drawing a foul

Hard to disagree. At the same time it's terrible what happened to Paul's family.

That being said there's rumors the Suns wanted to fight Luka after the game in the bowels of the arena. That's fckn crazy dumb sht, but we need some spice in some of these series and maybe we are getting it here.

If you go 5 for a billion from 3 maybe you should play your sharpshooter you paid 90 million for in the offseason.
Coaches overthiinking matchups is something we will easily 2nd guess. Snyder did the same thing. Jazz went out and got Rudy Gay and then never played him vs the Mavs. If Spoesta is a good coach he will figure out how to use Robinson without Maxey and Harden taking him to town.

Yup I would never wish ill will on anyone's family but it's great to see rivalries develop in front of us.

Looks like Jokic is going to win back-to-back MVPs. Hard to argue with -- he had the greatest PER season in league history. I have no doubt that Markieff Morris will be the first to call and congratulate him.

So it will be interesting to see how Jokic is viewed in the lens of Nuggets lore. Clearly he has earned the NBA MVP. It took him 3 years to get to the playoffs but has helped Denver get out of the first round twice and to the conference finals once. Oddly enough losing to LA just like Melo did when he got them there.

Melo helped a team go from 17-65 to 7 straight playoffs including the year he was traded. He helped boost a franchise that has been more formidable and a playoff threat nearly every year since vs an afterthought and a few Mutombo memories ( unless you go much further back).

Yet it is funny how much people crown Jokic as the ultimate Nugget. Stats wise yes. Otherwise he has more first round pelts and MVPs but that is about it. Also I like Jokic as a player a lot just funny how things are looked at.

Where is Denver if Detroit doesn't screw up and does nab Melo?

I think Jokic is getting a ton of credit for getting Nugs to the 6th spot this year when their #2 and #3 did not play a game all year and rightfully so. I think most Nugs fans get it and he will sign the max deal this summer as well. I highly doubt you will ever see Jokic ask/ force is way out of Denver just don't think it's who he is. Kind of a lost year for them really but Jokic carried them about as far as he could

It cracked me up that we had guys like Tim Legler saying NBA officials were in Philly to give Embiid the MVP award the other night when we’ve known for like a month now that Jokic had won.

Three really deserving candidates this year but I think Jokic had the best resume.

I mean, Jokic has two MVPs and two of the best regular seasons of all time and has generally continued that play in the playoffs. Melo was simply never that level of player in the regular season or postseason. He’s a Hall of Famer but Jokic will be much higher in the all time rankings if he stays moderately healthy.

Not contending with any of this. More about just the overall lore of Jokic vs Melo as Nuggets and their importance. For many it seems he has done way more for them which is kind of funny given the whole history.

As for forcing his way out I agree with that said not sure it's quite fair when you had George Karl coaching them back then and the impending rebuild that played a role in Melos decision. If Jokic and a healthy crew can take them the next step then he deserves every greatest Nugget ever accolade he gets. Melo will still be under appreciated I'm sure but properly second to Jokic.

Yeah you are conflating my point a little though. My point was the value to the franchise not the player as ranked. I sort of was getting to the longevity aspect in my last post. I mean Melo goes to Detroit and wins 3 rings or so and also is the same HOF player he is now... he is looked at differently in the larger scheme ranking wise but that isnt the point i was driving at. In terms of a franchise that had nothing going for it- he was huge. Even if he never had two MVP years or best ever statistical years in the NBA.

Let's not also forget that 6-11 290 does a lot for you too when you have elite skills to go with. Anyways if Jokic can do it 6 more years even and not even win a ring but get them back to the wcfs a couple times then crown him sure. For now it's underselling Melo as to what he meant to Denver while there and after.
