In the Association’s continuing efforts to support college athletes, the NCAA’s top governing board voted unanimously to permit students participating in athletics the opportunity to benefit from the use of their name, image and likeness in a manner consistent with the collegiate model.

Great news for all the kids
Also great news for us adults/kids that enjoy playing EA's NCAA Football, no more updating roosters from 2014 lol

I still have and play 2013!

So the NCAA wants to "assure student-athletes are treated similarly to non-athlete students?"

Does this mean our student-athletes will be allowed to take a part-time job at the YMCA without us forfeiting wins?

Does it also mean that since pretty much most "non student athletes" all smoke weed, the "student-athletes" that did were just trying to fit in with their fellow students...so SU/JB gets those 101 wins back. ;):)

I think everyone is jumping the gun a little bit here

The tax implications for this are huge. Will the players now be employees?

No. In the article linked in the OP, one of their guidelines and principles is the following:

Reaffirm that student-athletes are students first and not employees of the university.
