Excellent points by Seth Greenberg. I really used to like Jay Bills but not the same since he broke off from Raftery and Mcdonaugh. They kept him grounded. He just acts condescending now, talks down to people.

As Seth pointed out, these are kids growing into adults. You can’t just hand kids hundreds of thousands of dollars and expect them to make smart and rational decisions. I think Seth was the best spoken person on this discussion.

Brain doesn’t fully develop until mid to late 20’s or so. Not saying that is when someone truly becomes an adult, but to just ignore that fact and say, well, you can go to jail at 17 and be tried as an adult. Let’s at least put in a system where we try to prepare these kids for life and to use this money to prepare them for their future.

Bilas also likes to put a lot of the blame on the NCAA without acknowledging that any changes they try to make just get shot down in court.

Let’s talk about this, their are over 360 college basketball teams in D1. Which equates to close to 5000 players. Only about 1% play any time in the NBA, and only about 0.4% are vested and essentially make a 4-5 year career out of it.

My point, let’s try to prepare these kids for life and make smart and healthy decisions. No one says they can’t get paid. But let’s put in a system to actually help these kids.
