NCAA Tournament Selection Discussion - Bubble Talk, ACC Teams, #1 Seeds, whatever you want to say

Can we finally put the nail in the indiana coffin?

Not yet. They are not in great shape and not high as of now, but they still have a few lifelines,

- If Auburn and FSU loses today
and
- No bubble busters (Miami wins MAC, Utah St wins MVC, VCU/St Louis wins A-10)
- Random committee decisions

If those all happen, Indiana's chances would go up... less than 50/50, but not minimal either.

Updated consensus standings based on 32 brackets updated today. Seems to be a fairly solid consensus. That being said the 4 teams above the line, are susceptible to bubble busters.

SMU 32 (out of 32)
Texas 30
VCU 30
Auburn 27
---------------
New Mexico 4
Indiana 3
San Diego St 1
Oklahoma 1

They have 14 losses and just lost to nw team with a losing record. Their resume isn't that special.

Miami OH will be the most intriguing team Sunday for sure.

Relevant Games Today

Auburn vs Q1 Tennessee 3:00

Utah St vs UNLV 3:00 (Utah St not winning would result in a bubble buster)

Florida St vs Q1 Duke 7:00

Oklahoma vs Q1 Texas A&M 9:30 (not sure if it would be nearly enough for Oklahoma, but the next game could)

New Mexico vs San Jose St

Miami loses to UMass ... Bubble Buster or Not? Not sure.

No doubt,
It will be the most debated low-major in a long time. 1 loss, no matter the schedule, I don't think has ever been on the bubble in my memory.

Usually the mid-majors are from more stellar conferences like the MVC/WCC. Not many teams from the MAC as at large candidates.

FWIW I think they should be in for sure. Auburn?? Give me a break.

I’m not the biggest fan of Auburn .. I’ll rely on consensus for placing them there. But of the 4, they seems like the least quality to me.

Not sure who I would put above Auburn that was currently below the line, but hopefully Miami solves that problem.

Florida St up 1 against Duke with 11 minutes to go.

If they can pull it off there resume becomes intriguing.

My feeling on Miami is "We just don't know and can't be definitive either way"

We know the committee has never been kind to viable at large contenders that are outside of the top 10 conferences,... these don't pop up each year, but when they do it doesn't tend to work out. But they may have an extra quality win or two, but they aren't 31-1 either. And the reasons are "SOS" / "Quality Wins", as if there comparing apples vs apples, which is absurd. They will be able to find excuses from the past that they can point do and say the are excluding in order to be consistent. Not saying its right.

As of now the argument is probably Miami vs Indiana/Auburn. I think Miami can win that one.

But the issue for Miami becomes if Utah St doesn't win the MWC... or if there is a bubble buster in the A-10.
