Simply aren't enough big sports schools to have a legit private conference. Would be kind of nice though.

There are only 17 private schools which field an FBS team. I'm still not convinced that Tulane's in it for the long haul.

Notre Dame is not joining a conference because they get to keep ALL their football revenue and don't have to share any. ND will only join a conference if there are 4 super conferences and only those 4 conference champions can compete for the national championship. Barring this Notre Dame will never join a conference.
