This escapade you’re on is something. Starling doesn’t belong in the same sentence as Joe Girard let alone Gerry McNamara. Gerry TS% for his career was .547. JJ’s is .499. Also he has triple the assists as JJ.
(1) You know I'm not comparing JJ to Gerry McNamara; I'm making a point of advanced statistics. Gerry's total shooting percentage is pumped up quite a bit by the fact that he was an elite FT shooter. He did not make an elite percentage of his 3 point shots, and you know that's a fact.
(2) I'm making the point that for those who say there is "no such thing as clutch play" - which many stat heads say, they think calling someone clutch, you never have a representative sample size. Randomness comes into play.
"You can't measure clutch."
And yet somehow we all knew Gerry had it.
Judah Mintz had it. Even Buddy Boeheim had it.
I haven't seen it yet from Donnie.
That doesn't mean he's not the best player on the team.
Among the players on the team this year, JJ is the guy who has actually gone out and won games before. Not a lot. Not consistently.
But he has done it. Who else on this team has?
