Class of 2025 New Commit : Jake Meyer (GA: Wesleyan) Att/Mid (10/17/23)

I know Meyer is already a 4* but I feel like he's still flying under the radar if that's possible . The more I see about him the more I see a 5 star top 50 recruit. He is one to keep an eye on over the next two years, sees like he's just scratching the surface.

Loved this kid.. him and Pike were two of the kids. I was really hoping we got that I didn’t want to say their name to jinx it.lmao

He’s also already involved in box… maybe he’ll be one going up north for the summer

More film …

Donny Scott lives less than an hour away in Atlanta. I’d love to see Meyer join him in Orangeville next summer to begin learning from Spallina, Deere, Bucktooth, & Co.

Meyer captained his HS to their first ever State Championship. Had 6 goals in the final.

Georgia HS Player of the Year

Athletes of the year for high school sports

By Chip Saye

Georgia continued to produce elite athletes on the fields, courts, pools, tracks, mats and other venues across Georgia during the 2023-2024 school year.

A flag football player led Southeast Bulloch to its third consecutive state championship in the fall and helped the 3-year-old program improve its all-time record to 62-0. In the winter, a McDonald’s All-American put up massive numbers for a McEachern boys basketball team that finished as the Class 7A runner-up and was ranked No. 13 nationally. And a junior boys lacrosse player was one of many highlights of the spring when he helped Wesleyan reach its goal of winning at least one state championship in all 20 sports it offers.

Lacrosse (boys)

Jake Meyer, Wesleyan:
The junior attack was a guiding force in securing the Wolves’ first championship in program history, scoring six goals in a 15-11 victory over Westminster in the Class A-4A final. He finished the postseason, which included wins over top-ranked Starr’s Mill and No. 2 Fellowship Christian, with 14 goals, 10 assists and seven ground balls. On the season, he had 45 goals, 49 assists, 31 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. He is committed to Syracuse.

I'm looking forward to seeing him and his brother play next year.

Interesting that we have a QB joining in 2024 and a lax player joining in 2025, both from the same private school outside of Atlanta.

His younger brother is two years younger.

I’m at Jake’s game today. We’ll see how it goes.

Jake's team, Wesleyan, way overmatched their opponent (Mount Pisgah) and crushed them 20-1.
The opponents didn't score until late in the game when the 3rd stringers were playing.
Both schools are within 5 miles of my house.

Jake scored 2 goals, had a couple of assists and hit the frame a couple of times.
Meanwhile, his younger brother scored 3 goals.

I stood by the PA announcer for the entire game and had to remind the clock keeper to stop the clock when the opponent called a time out, as the officials had gone to a running clock when the score reached 12-0 or 13-0.

The clock keeper asked about my SU relationship after seeing my orange SU Lax t-shirt.
It turns out that he is Jake's father. We had a quick chat then and after the game.

Jake will be going for his business degree and is excited to join the Orange.
His father is from NJ and has been a lax fan for most of his life. I mentioned my many trips to Final Four games in the 80's & 1990 as well as Gary Gait's goal from behind the net. He claims to have been at that game as well.

It sounds like his brother may drop lax next year when Jake is at SU as it's not his primary sport.

All in all a good visit to some awesome facilities at that private school. I'll see if I can make it to another game there this season.

I added comments about the game in the previous post, but nobody would know since the posting time doesn't change when you edit it.
