New JB interview

2 important notes: first, JB is calm, looks tired, and wants this to go away. He is now saying he has known Bernie for 50 years and supports him until and if different facts are uncovered (this is still support...but not all in as before---JB is giving himself an out by saying I know nothing, and should know nothing of previous and current investigations).

The other point is simply the video that follows JB's...the Schwartz video indicated he received a text from the DA concerning what is happening on the case and the syracuse police and DA office with no news until next week. Personally, I find this unprofessional for a DA to be speaking to the lead journalist publicly...I would move for judicial review.

The DA simply communicated to a reporter that the case is delayed until next week, which, btw, is public information. He's not revealing any confidential details of the case so he's not doing anything wrong.

there is no reason for a d.a. to give a personal heads up to a national reporter. None.

that is Paternoesque what he says there and this is not gonna show him in a good light. "It's not his place ask as a basketball coach to know about those things" meaning the investigation in 2005 when they asked if they gave him the details. He says "just the bare minimum". Cripes I'd think the minimum is knowing it involves potential pedophile behavior by someone on his staff, someone who's around young boys a lot, and he doesnt feel he needs to inquire on the details. This highlights the problem of for the lack of a better word nepotism, being too close to someone. Combine this with putting himself so far out there in calling them liars and out for $...man o man we're screwed.

isnt that same one as last night?

you need to climb off the ledge. it is entirely conceivable that once the 2005 report essentially cleared Bernie, the higher ups told JB "all clear, do you want to see the full report?" and he just answered no. If there was any kind of doubt, they might have said "JB, read the report then you make the call if you want to keep Bernie around." Final option - if the report was damning, then Cantor and Gross would have taken the decision completely out of JB's hands. Of the three possibilities, it was most likely the first. Therefore, JB doesn't actually have to have read the report to know that it clears Bernie.

that being said, it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out JB is being deceptive here and actually has read the report. it would be foolish at this point not to have done so. despite his rep as a "straight shooter," JB has a history of deceiving, obfuscating, and straight out lying to reporters when it suits him.

He does? I have never heard that but I'm not connected with SU. Can you give examples?

so many times over the years when it comes to internal team matters - denied that Dion told him to * off, denied the locker room incident with Louie McCroskey, stonewalled for years over the various Billy Edelin incidents, etc. If it suits him, he will lie, dissemble and deceive. As he should, by the way; that is not a criticism, sometimes it has to be done.

Well, I must say, I've heard him called a bad coach, bad dresser, bad recruited and stuff like that but that's the first time I've heard him called a liar.

everybody lies; it's as human as eating, sleeping and breathing.
