The shoe is irrelevant. The tape job their ankles get basically makes them all playing in high tops. They could essentially play in flip flops and have the best ankle support possible.

Ankles are heavily taped--no argument there. But still, it isn't quite as stable as you are implying. Why invite risk?

Do high tops really give any more support? It's not like they are as stiff or tied tight like hockey skates.

Absolutely, they give more support. But the post above is correct in that these guys have their ankles taped by professional trainers, so they have more support than just the sneakers.

But comparing low tops to high tops without the tape--yes, high tops give way more support.

Are pretty much every players' ankles taped? I also have always noticed that so many players like low tops, and not even any ankle braces. Sometimes even just socks and no tape.

I severely jacked up my ankle over 2 years ago coming down on someone's foot and it still gives me tons of problems. I wear pretty heavy duty ankle braces now and basically try not to jump
Anymore.

Always wondered why there aren't more turned ankles out there, especially with low tops.

Retirement trip to Alaska!?
Actually, we ARE thinking of going to Alaska! End of August. I want to fly to Anchorage and then drive around. I have ideas. Maybe when it gets closer you will offer consultations?

I'm watching this at work so can't get sound - don't ask - but the exuberance and fun these guys are having made me laugh out loud. Especially when they were doing shoe telephone. I can't wait to go home and watch it again with sound.

After today I will only have 5 more work days. Sad, weird, a lot of loss, also good, I think. So many of my clients are SU fans and we have had so much fun (and depression!) over the years together. I will miss that.

Wow! Congrats on retirement!! May your very first few laid back, coffee drinking in pajamas, wine drinking, reading, breakfast at a diner, walmart greeting, golf starting days be blessed with a very Orange Monday.

they did for me in my much much much less than D1 competition days. I felt naked if I didn't have high tops.

Of course! PM me as you guys start to make plans, I'll shoot down to Anchorage for dinner if you guys are up for it!

If sneakers are irrelevant to ankle support, we should make waves and roll out the team in custom orange yeezy boost 350's.

At least you won't have work to distract you from your true calling. I see you going to full time fan status, but you're already a good example of the word fanatic. I hope the team celebrates your retirement in style. LGO!!!

High tops don't prevent sprains

They absolutely DO prevent ankle injuries. Doesn't mean that they are a foolproof solution, but it is ridiculous to claim that they don't afford more protection than low tops, or that they don't reduce the likelihood [i.e., "prevent"] ankle sprains.

Not a huge fan of the all whites, I like when they wear the orange ones, I forgot who wore them, it might have been G, the orange and blue ones were really nice.

WALMART GREETING?? Oh, good sir, you know where to put the knife. :p

Yessssssss! I need my team to win and keep on playing this year more than any other year. My clients are grieving, I am grieving, we are hot messes. Only Syracuse basketball can rescue me. (In truth, they have already done it. This has been a great week.)

And if they lose, the tourney will still be a distraction. (See how rational I can be?)

I just can't work anymore. I can't stop thinking about Orange basketball. Tomorrow night cannot come quick enough.

Haven't been this hyped up for a game since the first Duke game.

Can't freaking wait.

"Hey guys, listen, you know NCAA rules say we we cant pay you but here are some NEW SHOES!"

And by the way don't go accepting those free shoes from the local Buster Brown on Erie Blvd., only Nike can give them to you and it has to be captured on Video while you are wearing an Always Rappin t-shirt.
