New QB Coach Kirk Martin (TX)

Of the teams you listed, only Northwestern in 20 and and Alabama in both years have openings. All the other teams you listed are already playing 1 P5 team in those years and none want to play 2 P5 OOC.
There you go with your clairvoyance again. You know that none of them want 2 p5 ooc games?
There is no rule saying you can only play 1 p5 ooc That's ridiculous. By the way...there are plenty of P5 teams that play 2 p5 teams ooc. Go look with the link I provided. I'm done doing all the work.;)
You asked me to list any p5 team with an opening in either 2020, or 2021. According to the site link I provided, the teams I listed, fit that profile. I won't go through them 1 by 1, but just a few...Baylor has Texas State and BYU in 2021, TCU has openings for 2 ooc games in both years.

TCU plays Cal in both years and BYU counts as a P5. Nobody wants to play 2 P5 teams OOC for the same reason that Syracuse doesn't, they want wins. A few of the big dogs will play 2, but I wouldn't think Syracuse wants them. When SU dropped Wisconsin I went through the P5 schedules and didn't see many open dates. Also, Army counts as a P5 for the SEC but I'm not sure if the ACC has sanctioned them.

#1 This is the world we live in now I guess. If I disagree with you, then I must be mad? Sorry, but no. This is an internet message board, I don't take much on here too seriously.

#2 The following schools have room for P5 schools scheduled in either 2020, and/or 2021. Baylor (2021), TCU (2020 and 2021)Minnesota (2020) Northwestern (2020), Cal (2021), UCLA (2020), USC (2020, 2021), Washington (2021), Alabama (2020, 2021), Arkansas (2020), Florida(2021), Missou (2021), South Carolina (2021)

Other than those 13, I had a hard time finding a p5 team with an opening for another p5 team in either 2020, or 2021. Then again...you already know what I know, so you must have known that right?

I've said this before. Ignore is your friend.

explain ?
I mean the change in position coaches and responsibilities has shifted in unexpected ways compared to day 1. Like Ward taking over Lbs after Kauffman left and shuffling the dline responsibilities to make room for Stanard and emphasize development of that position. Then on O, bringing in 3 outsiders now (Lustig, Cavanaugh, and now Martin) and shifting (presumably) full OC onto Lynch which in turn signals Cav and Martin will have much more involvement/emphasis on teaching and development, less on planning and strategy. It seems to me he has changed the staff to be heavier on development and made the guys who focus on game planning a smaller group.

One other thing that needs to be done: Coaching changes to areas of responsibility. IIRC Lewis covered Florida...

I would think Martin gets TX/LA and maybe one minor area like St Louis (for example). Who gets Lewis's territories?

I remember joking that we'd schedule Alabama after WI dropped off our schedule ... and now you're telling me that they have openings both years.

No ... just no ... please stop giving SU bad ideas and drop them from your list. And please delete your post before anyone in the Syracuse University athletic department sees it.

1. How much could we possibly want to recruit out of St. Louis? (Honest question - is that a hotbed that I don't know about)
2. I can see that pitch now ... "Hey kid, do you want to play for Syracuse? You'll get to leave St. Louis."

It was a throw away example...hence the insertion of "for example"

Can't help but wonder how many kids we'll recruit in the next couple of years that watched Syracuse win the 2013 Texas Bowl on TV or in person.

In fact you may recall there was a huge push organized by Nunes Magician blog to send local Texas kids to the game for free. I think they raised enough money to pay for busses, Orange tshirts and food.

I don't remember for sure if they connected with any youth football programs but it sure would be a great story if one of those kids ends up playing for us one day.

We aren’t going to play Texas tech ever
Arizona, Ole Miss and Oregon play TTech OOC but Syracuse is too special or some crap. SU should have already started scheduling games in Texas when Dino became head coach as he runs a system developed in Texas high school football and he would be able to recruit there. And now there is a well known Texas high school coach on staff as well. Any games in Texas would be a good idea.

It's a two-way street. Just because we want to play TT (for example), that doesn't mean they want to play us. If a TX team doesn't want to travel to CNY, there's nothing we can do.

No way we ever do a one-off ever again. Home and home or nothing.

I think you nailed it...the only reason SU does not want to play 3 P5 schools OOC is because they are "too special or some crap." And all the while, some of us thought it was because we have averaged 8 losses per season since 2005.

It's just not the best strategy. Maybe it's not the worst either, but shouldn't we want SU to use the best strategy possible? You need to learn how to let some of this go sometimes. I'm curious, when you stub your toe on something, do you then kick it until you break your foot?

Cal or Arkansas would be fun. Minnesota was a nice game as well

They play them in different years, not the same year.

It's difficult for me to end a discussion when other people are employing faulty logic or using false facts. I personally think Dino would be looked at as a "rock star" in Texas.

You must be from Texas? If Syracuse went down there and won a shootout vs Tech, football people (which is everyone in Texas) across the whole state would take notice.

You know Texas Tech has been 6-7, 5-7, 7-6 and 4-8 the past 4 seasons? I don't think this victory would make the whole state stand up and take notice like you think.

That's why I think their a good P5 opponent for the Orange, they're the weakest P5 team in Texas.. I'm not saying a win over them would be some huge thing, I'm just saying in a state where football is a religion, it would be duly noted. Maybe people on the board would believe you if you told them the scheduling requirements agreed to by the P5 conferences as it seems many here don't understand that and attacking my suggestion of TTECH because I can see SU doesn't have many options for 2020 and 2021.

Thank you for bringing back that great memory! We definitely sowed some Orange seeds in H-town that day.

It's all happening.

It's a good point, IIRC Lewis was heavily involved in the Midwest and had a lot of solid connections in the Chicagoland and Missouri Valley areas. Missouri has a ridiculous crop of ballers in the 2019 class, so it definitely matters. My guess would be it's an area that either Lustig or McCloud pick up or split.

Don't forget Reynolds. Plus the staff that came with Dino from BGSU have a pretty solid foot hold in the Midwest. Lewis being from and playing high school in the area did give him a big advantage, but I think we will still have a pretty big footprint in the Midwest without him.

I believe Monroe has the East Coast of Florida. I believe Lewis had the western side of Florida.

Martin coached Reggie Hemphill-Mapps when he was at Manvel. Hemphill-Mapps is transferring from Texas after his redshirt freshman year. I wonder if he'd look to reunite with Martin at Syracuse? He'd be a great get as a slot receiver/punt returner.
