New WR Coach/Passing Coord: Myles White

Was hoping for maybe a bit of a bigger “splash.” Seems like an up and coming coach but his credentials are definitely lesser than Douglas when Fran hired him.

Packers fans were a little disappointed with their WR development this season but that might have been out of coach White’s control.

Welcome to the cuse Myles!

Yeah he wasn’t the Packers WR coach so that really can’t be laid at his feet. Looks like a good hire to me

On the surface, certainly not a splashy hire. I like that he had a touch of experience playing in the NFL and a couple seasons in the CFL. Its a positive that he has college WR coaching experience with a year at Stephen Austin and then 2 seasons at Miami of Ohio. His year of coaching in the NFL would have been better if it was as a WR coach but just having any coaching experience with the Packers is a bonus. He's young and should be able to relate to the players well. Hopefully he is a good teacher and communicator.

So young coach with about ~7 years Pro NFL/CFL experience as a WR. Short footprint as coach but has coached WR in college and has one year of learning under an NFL coaching staff.
We have enough recruiters. This guy feels like a teacher which is great. If he can teach up our WR talent similar to Ross, then this is a good pickup. If his youth let's him connect well and recruit even better.

Very similar profile to Douglas, young former player with only a couple years of WR coach experience. Seems like a good sign he was given the "Passing Game Coordinator" title after his first year at Miami OH, feel like you do that when you recognize a coach might be in demand soon.

Definitely out of his direct control, he was a coaching assistant. Ryan Mahaffey was the wide receiver coach.

He was named to the AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute in December of 2023. Very well thought of in the coaching industry. You will note his name is right next to fellow SU coach Robert White.

I think he fits the profile Coach Brown is looking for. Young, bright, and ambitious. It appears he is also very religious, which I assume appeals to Fran.

I'm not worried about whether it was a splashy hire. I don't know that we will ever have the money to do that. We'll see how it plays out. If I remember correctly, there were a few questions about Nixon when Fran was putting his staff together, and now we freak out about the idea of losing him.

If the reports on Nixon's raise are true, there probably isn't the budget for a splash hire.

I didn’t think a WR coach could be a splashy hire. Who did everyone want, Nick Saban?
I think folks were hoping that we would bring someone in who could bring along a player or three... either via portal for 2025 or 2026 recruiting.

We have a portal coaching thread. Have people reviewed how many players are following those guys when they move around?
