WR Coach Ross Douglas to Oregon

Jeesh…it’s just seems different under Fran than any other coaches we’ve had…
I believed at the beginning when he put his staff together so fast and hit the ground running, that their plans had been in place for a long time.
This seems to be proof. There probably are a network that Fran through the years has talked to.

He really had a big extensive binder with long term plans for SU before he came here. :)

Wildhack took a chance on Georgia’s glue guy. Not their top coordinators or the more public facing coaches from other programs. Fran is different though because he had plans to not be the glue guy his entire career, but to be the guy. One thing about glue guys is they work so hard they are connected to others in their industry that are also glue guys at their programs. That seems to be the type of coaches Fran is hiring for his staff and trying to develop into being the guy for other programs as well in the coming years. Fran is on his way to being a transformational figure in the coaching world.

Ross Douglas is 30 years old! Worked his way up from being a Grad Assistant at Rutgers just 5 years ago to a current top 5 program positional coaching position in FBS football.

Wildhack couldn’t afford their coordinators.

Was there evidence of it though? Maybe there was stuff going on behind the scenes, but all I saw was a guy bringing some celebrities to courtside seats. I didn't see a guy wanting to ensure his school had every chance to succeed.
Its what i heard more basketball but would have helped with some in football too. Its a shame either way.

Yea, even if the guy gave millions to the programs, brought more attention to our games and at the same time brought more attention to himself...I would consider that pretty damn normal.
The guy is different, pretty damn down to earth and what I consider cool.
Yes, I did spend a fair amount of time with him in the Bahamas. Met him on the beach, had drinks and he invited my family to dinner with him on Thanksgiving. ~they ran out of turkey by 6pm~
Mariano Rivera was sitting next to us and came over and sat down for a bit, english wasnt the greatest.
Anyone hating on him is not in tune with reality.
He is literally being recruited by other top programs! Google it.

SU pushing that dude away is a shame and just ignorant. Whoever made this decision walks around with bungee cords strapped around their butt cheeks so tight im surprised they didnt lose a leg, clearly lost their balls. Get with the program, times are a changin.

Sad when schools like Miami could potentially lure one of our greatest assets away, especially now.
Being recruited? This is just...weird.

Is he so philanthropic that he will accept whatever benefits his recruitment will reap for him in order to heap some cash on a Miami point guard or linebacker? Seems like a contradiction. Why is his fandom tied to being able to bring in celebrities and sit with them courtside?

I don't know the guy, and I'm probably painting my idea of him with a broad brush. Maybe he really could have helped in the pay for play world we exist in. But I still think it's strange.

I don’t personally have anything against the man. I just don’t want him as the face of recruiting at my alma mater. I have seen him as “the billionaire client” on two different cheesy luxury real estate shows where he claims to need a $100million luxury home in LA and the Hamptons, and I haven’t seen him buy anything. It may not be an accurate representation of who he is, but it’s what he puts out there and what I have to base an opinion on (and why I am OK with the distancing). I genuinely appreciate what he seems to do for the betterment of CNY, but I don’t see SU as a charity case no matter how much money they may need to be competitive in high stakes revenue sports. Don’t they have a $2billion endowment?
Kids (seemingly) care about fame only: not why someone is famous. I think it’s a missed opportunity, and a huge mistake. It’s the powers that be at SU thinking their you no what doesn’t stink, when it stinks the same as everyone else’s.

Passing game coordinator? So that’s a step up as well isn’t it? Assuming a salary bump, and a responsibility bump and setting himself up for bigger roles as time goes on.

Wonder if we could get Rob Moore to come home
No thank you. Loved Rob as a player and I think he’s prob a good on- field coach but he is NOT a good recruiter. Seems like he thinks kids should be kissing his axx when he needs to be kissing theirs.

He’s too cool to court high school kids. He acts like they should feel lucky the Great Rob Moore is talking to them when in reality kids today don’t know or really care who he is.

Hard pass

He was passing game coordinator here.

It's just a big boy with an unlimited check from Dad, signing a WR coach you is young and his WRs had video game numbers.
For him it's a chance to see how a top program runs and gets his name out more to move to his ultimate goal of HC.

You never know, his next step up may be OC here. In the meantime he gets some extra exposure about how successful college programs are run.
