SUAD John Wildhack mentioned in one of his interviews today they might reduce the number of annual rival games for football from 3 to 2. It would be nice to get rid of FSUguessing were going towards the big 10 flex plus model
Yea they have 3 months to figure it outSUAD John Wildhack mentioned in one of his interviews today they might reduce the number of annual rival games for football from 3 to 2. It would be nice to get rid of FSU
Nice thing about 2 is no one gets stuck with the new teams. Which means three SF trips over 7 years for SU.SUAD John Wildhack mentioned in one of his interviews today they might reduce the number of annual rival games for football from 3 to 2. It would be nice to get rid of FSU

2 works well with a 9 game schedule. Not great with an 8 game schedule.2+6+6 instead of 3+5+5
or a combination or 2 perm and 4 perm, I think can work as the newbs having only 2 perm rivals makes sense, some of the current 3rd rivals are forced and should be removed2 works well with a 9 game schedule. Not great with an 8 game schedule.
You end up with 14 teams you need to play and 6 games a year to play them. It isn’t clean.
2-7-7 completes the loop so you play everyone at least once every two years. Really good for building and retaining rivalries.
I think 2-7-7 or 4-4-4-4 are the best possibilities.
Agree with Otto. 8-8 (no annual rival) is a non-starter. Too many long standing rivalry games lost and it makes for way more travel for everyone with the 3 newbies not paired together.
That is what I think2+6+6 instead of 3+5+5
What games are sacred? There is no ACC version of the Iron Bowl. You need 12 of 17 to agree to that. Outside of Louisville and SMU, who is going to vote to give up their annual rivalry game?
Correction: Cal and Stanford have played 125 times.I think if you went to 9 games you could get the votes need for 2 + 7/7. Otherwise it will likely be 4 + 4/4/4.
ACC games played 50+ times by team:
BC: SU (55)
Clemson: Wake (88), NC State (87), GA Tech (86), UNC (57), Duke (54)

NC and NC State? Not really UNC cares more about Duke even if it isn't basketball.
Miami FSU had no interest in playing prior to Miami joining the ACC.
UVA and VT I don't think used to play either annually.
Getting out of Pitt every year might make me on board with this. Of course it won't happen though.

Welcome to the board. Are you a Cal fan?
Is this the first sighting of the 3?
Yep. A proud Berkeley grad. I get back to NY several times a year to visit my oldest kid. I’m looking forward to combining a family visit with a some football in the future.Welcome to the board. Are you a Cal fan?
Get rid of playing Florida St.or a combination or 2 perm and 4 perm, I think can work as the newbs having only 2 perm rivals makes sense, some of the current 3rd rivals are forced and should be removed
That’s ok, but only covers 15 teams. What do the other two do?That is what I think
I understand...but when did we do anything logical in the ACC?That’s ok, but only covers 15 teams. What do the other two do?
Cal looks like a very nice venue for a game. My plan is to parlay our first game there with a week-long trip to Cali with the wife/kids where we do the drive down Route 1/Pacific Coast Highway.Yep. While I prefer the 4 + 4 model to keep tradition, 2 + 6 gets you through the conference faster. Although that means more often going to Cali. But it also means no one gets stuck with a Cali team as a perm.I understand...but when did we do anything logical in the ACC?
9 game conference schedule and 2-7-7 makes too much sense.
With the Notre Dame 5 game series and quite a few teams having P5 annual OOC games a 9 game conference schedule will be hard to get passed. Plus will ESPN pay for it?
Agree and I think that makes the most sense in the longer term, But when do we do anything that makes sense in the ACC!I understand...but when did we do anything logical in the ACC?

Thank you for this… back in the day Miami/FSU was THE game of the year. Not to age myself but I’ll never forget taking my SATs and trying to finish as early as I could so I didn’t miss Miami/FSU.You can't be serious? Were you not alive in the 80s and 90s?
