Next year

Of course he could if he wanted. The letter is a commitment to a college. That is a pro deal. Anyone that would tie their ship to that guy is asking for trouble.

I sure hope Carey doesn't get swept away by The Ball Dad... I already can't stand that man.

Father time is undefeated.

There are reasons why no basketball coach has won an NCAA tournament game beyond the age of 72. When next season starts, Boeheim will be the oldest coach in D1 history, so I hope he continues to break records.

Chaney, Lute Olson & Jim Phelan all coached until they were 74. Boeheim will break the record a couple of years from now. In any case, he better break that record, because not winning tournament games (or even making the tournament) is tough to stomach.

Well, if we want to split hairs (and heck, it's an internet forum - that's what they're for):

Olson never coached a game as a 73 year old. He missed the entire 07-08 season and he retired right before the 08-09 regular season started. (birthday: September 22, 1934 Final game: March 16th 2007) = 72 years, 5 months, 23 days
Chaney was 74 years, 1 month, 22 days when he coached his last game (birthday: January 21, 1932 Final game: March 14th, 2006) = 74 years, 1 month, 22 days
Jim Phelan was almost 74. (birthday: March 19, 1929 Final game: March 1st, 2003) = 73 years, 11 months, and 11 days

Boeheim turns 74 this coming November, so on January 8 2019, he will become the oldest D1 basketball coach ever (Birthday: November 17, 1944 Final game: TBD, age on January 8 2019) = 74 years, 1 month, 23 days

My math might be wrong, so feel free to check it.

I think we'll be better next year, but I think we'll be like 9 or 10 seed better, not protected seed better.

22-11 type of regular season with everyone wondering how the [expletive deleted] we didn't win 25+ games with how good Baze is...

If we finish 22-11 with the projected talent I think we will have then it will be time for JB to retire.

That's how I see it. I can't believe people are talking top 10 at this point.

You are right! My apologies. I thought he recently turned 72, not 73. I owe the board 10 pushups. ;)
