Do you think they'll announce Reds firing before the team is done in the ACC tourney? Just seems to me they could have announced it any time in the last couple weeks but chose to take the high road and let him finish the season. And how soon do you expect a new coach to be announced?
Oh, no, I don't think that SU would announce a leadership change in men's hoops until the season is over. Wildhack has said that Red is finishing the season, and there's no benefit to announcing it today versus later this week. In terms of a new head coach, that becomes a little tricky, because if SU is going to hire a new head coach whose current team is in the NCAA Tournament, that becomes a delicate issue...

Thanks buddy. I'm an out of towner and don't get to this site as much as I'd like to. Some posters here implied that the new AD would be announced today or tomorrow and then Red would be fired. (Or maybe it was wishful thinking on their part) Figured they would let him play out the rest of the season.

thats the part i dont get, the hc announcement. is that the red let go...seems late. or the new hc? if its new hc, its not someone in the ncaas. cant formally do anything.

I agree. I think the announcement is the end of Red's time.
Coach will come after (hopefully) South Florida is out of the tournament.

I hope Red's termination will be announced soon after the ACC loss. This can be done by WIldhack and will allow Red to immediately start his search for a new gig. Announcement of his replacement can come later.

So I assume it will play out like this.

Once Syracuse loses in the ACC tournament, Red will be relieved of his duties that evening or the next day.

1 day later, Syracuse will announce the AD Hire and announce a press conference for early next week.

This is so that the new hire is not overshadowed or does not have to answer questions about Reds position and it was all done before he came on board. He can look towards the future.

At least this makes the most sense to me.

Always fascinated me that Shane was the early villain yet Rick remained the hero despite moving to Shane's views.

Question for the Board -- if, as been hinted at or stated on other threads (maybe this one also), that the choice by the PTB for head BB coach is Mike Hopkins, and you're a potential incoming AD, why would you take the job if that decision has already been made and you don't think it necessarily is the best choice? Maybe you wouldn't. If that happens are we left with H.L. or will they open it up to consider other candidates? Just askin.

This day can’t get any worse can it?

I thought it was a casual reference and rumor that didn’t have a lot behind it

Not sure why SU slow rolls these announcements. Now maybe there are still interviews for the AD but the chancellor seemed done for months before an announcement.

Why in the hell hire a coach who didn't make it in Washington. I love hop, one of the best guys I have met on hill but has 0 offensive game plan. I was ok with Mac if he had a offensive system. Go Hodge

If the new hire is Hodgson, his team will likely be playing in the ncaa tourney. So it won’t be til the following week.
