Once Syracuse loses in the ACC tournament, Red will be relieved of his duties that evening or the next day.

1 day later, Syracuse will announce the AD Hire and announce a press conference for early next week.

This is so that the new hire is not overshadowed or does not have to answer questions about Reds position and it was all done before he came on board. He can look towards the future.

At least this makes the most sense to me.

If the new hire is Hodgson, his team will likely be playing in the ncaa tourney. So it won’t be til the following week.

I know the new AD is not JW’s call. But they might want Wildhack there for the announcement to speak to the press and talk about the handoff.

Wildhack is not needed. He is a short timer and his take is not relevant. The new AD simply needs to say Wildhack is a great guy and I look forward to working with him on the transition. In fact, the announcement can be made with a press release and a series of quotes. A press conference can be scheduled for a date certain in the future.
