Frustrating but also perhaps not surprising that a new DC wants some of his own guys, too. Nick's a great recruiter so will be curious to see how this impacts us.

Not completely surprised with us bringing in a new DC. Loved Nick Will as a motivator and recruiter. Seemed like a great dude. Not sure how his coaching was in comparison to the talent. I don't think he did a bad job in that regard but I do wonder if we could have gotten a bit more out of our DL. Obviously defensive scheme is a big part of DL production as well. Wish him well (kind of as its FSU) but not against us obviously.

Honestly has any of our edge rushers been that good? Diggs was good but was good before he came here. Not a big loss in my opinion.

Yeah, losing both Robinson and Nick Will could make some DL guys a bit uneasy. Hopefully they see what we have replaced them with at DC and wait to see what we bring in for a DL coach. Also there is a huge opportunity for playing time in front of them. I'd think we should be able to retain what we have, as its all young unexperienced talent looking for an opportunity.

yea I'm not sure how close some of the newer signees were to Nick vs. Fran. Fran is involved in recruiting most of those guys which helps. Plus technically they can't transfer for a year after signing unless they get a release from the school they signed with (if I read the rules right).

My thoughts exactly, our Dline and our edges struggled to generate pressure both seasons Erob and Nick were running the show. Both great for recruiting purposes but I’m ready for X’s and O’s guys that can help our players produce on the field. As long as Fran Brown is here we’re going to get good players.

Yeah. Though we definitely brought in a fair share of DL in the 2025 class as well though that would be eligible to transfer at this window. But I do love that Fran is so involved with the recruiting. It makes it that much easier to retain kids when assistants leave.

People are speculating he got booted but at a 1:1 wouldn't DL coach at FSU likely be viewed as a promotion for him? A higher salary, easier recruiting, and bigger national name at FSU.

Maybe he did get booted by the new DC but in my fanatics Internet forum opinion, he may have gotten poached.

Yep - bringing in talent is important but unless you’re landing 4 Fadil Diggs each year out of the portal, you need to develop it. That was lacking here.

I think it's shocking that he's not already. Go from beating Bama to 5-7 with a humiliating loss to Florida to end it?

They didn't want egg on their face I guess after saying they're keeping him. Or just couldn't afford the buyout. But I can see him being the first midseason firing next year. If they're not the one team that gets the 8 game ACC schedule, they will have @ Alabama and Florida as 2 of their 3 OOC games.

All new defensive staff is what was required here. Williams is a solid recruiter not sure of anything more than that but the DC we hired is putting his staff together. I am sure that was the agreement

He will get until 2028 at least, they aren't going to make a buyout north of 40M even if it kills them.

Not to sound like an FSU apologist, because I'm not and I hate them, buuut they are a lot closer to turning things around then we are after what we saw this year. Castellanos is a terrible P4 QB. They were always going to be limited by him. If they get an actual good QB this year they will have more success. They are stacked, always are.

With that said, Norvell is also an average coach and shouldn't be there any more. But they beat a playoff team this year and our best win was a 7-5 Clemson.

Fresh start for everyone is good. Williams and Coach E are both excellent individuals and i know that they will both do well. I can say that everyone involved with the program is sad to see them go but also very excited about the new coaches and what they bring to the table. 26 is shaping up to be a great year.

Yeah so while I get the new DC wants his guys but man we just lost two strong recruiters. Not saying that the defense didn't need change, it absolutely did but there's reasons more than Fran why Syracuse class ranking was still in the top 30 after a disaster end to our season. It will be interesting to see if Nick's departure and Erobs have any transfer implications.

Sounds like one thing Fran learned this year is that he can be the recruiting closer, but he needs better football people to prepare for games.

At first you think, "Losing Nick Williams is not a good thing." And that's probably true in some ways, but I just feel it's gonna work out. The coaching staff will be refreshed in a way that helps the overall team. We know Fran can recruit players, let's see how he does with recruiting coaches. So far so good great.

The day the e rob news came out about him going to lsu, I saw Coach Williams was posting a lot on his Instagram of other coaches praising him for being a good coach. Wonder why happened.
