Nil estimates

I heard a number from someone who is close to Fran at a presentation that we roughly have at least 12 million available in NIL for this upcoming season.

I would think this is accurate as it was presented at a presentation at high school but I certainly can’t verify it.

If we have that much NIL for football, I feel pretty darn comfortable with what Fran Brown is building here

And next year we'll need at least another $12 million, just to tread water. Oh, for the days of "exploiting" student athletes by giving them only full tuition, room, board and spending allowance.

Isn’t this considered small number now? I thought schools can pay up to $20 million a season now? Unless you’re talking about $12 million without the school involved.

That's strictly nil. If we're really at $12 million we're pretty darn competitive.
I think some people on here said Fran had people of his own give him $4-5 million

Who are these people who donate to coaches wherever they go as opposed to schools? What's their end goal? Doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe it's better that way.

Fran has been to a lot of places coaching and made connections, he got Hassan Reddick to come to the spring game who he coached at Temple 10 years before.

That number just seems woefully shy now. Didn't it get confirmed that UNC and Bama matched BYU for 5 million for one hoop player?
I’m pretty confident in that number, by and large, as of spring though. Some teams were obviously north of that, but some big programs were in that range.

I think there are some programs that are still able to recruit using “getting you to the draft”as a selling point vs NIL money

That being said, I have no doubt it’s ballooning up as things are changing rapidly (e.g. wasn’t it just 2 years ago 100k was crazy?). Isn’t $20M the new number everyone is headed to as a result of of the settlement?

granted the numbers are growing rapidly, but this past spring I was told the number was $5 to $8M for most top programs to assemble their rosters
I did see that Ohio st was over 20 mil and they still lost 2x.

Maybe we have some boosters like those at SMU - you know the guys who told the ACC expansion committee "We don't need an ACC payout, we'll be fine". Some people just want to be winners and see their alma mater do well.

I guess the question is do we have the people to maintain 12 mill for 20 years? Its only gonna go up until the system gets fixed as well

Accurate.

Our problem wont be available NIL. Itll be the University delivering on promises for the program/etc. imo. Fran’s, so far, delivering exactly what he pitched to Cuse:

I’ve heard similar numbers, up from about 4 this past year. Of that 12, I suspect some is revenue sharing.

School has 20m for revenue sharing but some of that will go to football, some will go to men’s basketball and some for women. Maybe a small amount to others but I’ve heard JW say that most of those programs prefer more scholarships vs NIL. I suspect our lax programs might get a little of that though.

At least with Fran you could see the connections despite his lack of HC experience.
