NIL - "We Need Corporate Support" Says Wildhack

Miron family possibly, who are already on the BoD and named the court.

I am guessing if the Board members wanted to spend more of their money on NIL, they would.

It's not like they don't know what's going on and the need.

Maybe some of them are??

I know they’ve been doing stuff behind the scenes for a bit but should be more aggressive and public.

SU sports is a great way to reach a broad consumer base given how important sports is to the community (and the lack of true professional sports in the immediate area). Some smart businesses will take advantage of this. All these kids have been growing social media followings for a while even before they get to campus. They have audiences beyond just the local community too. Folks should be tapping into it. If I ran a B2C I’d be all over with custom promotions and marketing deals.

Yep. He's had meetings with local business leaders and others. But no matter how much NIL is raised, and we've been doing very well, it's never enough.

Micron has sponsored a bunch of stuff already. I’m sure they will be involved in SU sports in some fashion.
Not listed as a major donor to Boise State Athletics though there is a top supporter there with a Micron connection.

From a fans perspective what’s the best NIL to be donating to? I’ve been doing a monthly football / basketball Orange United donation but unsure if that’s the best use of my (very very) tiny support.
At this point OUC is the only collective doing anything beyond football. Athletes Who Care is the only other collective.
If you want to contribute to major football deals only, I would say Syracuse Football NIL.
Anything else I would say continue with Orange United but be aware that Wildhack has mentioned streamlining the channels by July.
You could also contribute to ChampionCuse once House settlement is approved and schools are allowed to pay athletes directly.

It would be interesting to see how colleges are raising their NIL funds from individuals vs. corporations.

There have been a few big corporation donations to schools that have been nationally publicized but not many.

It seems like most of the NIL corporate deals are from local, small businesses. It is very difficult to raise large amounts (millions) of NIL this way without a big agreement like for stadium naming rights.

Schools that have some very rich alumni that care about sports or a very large number of alumni appear to be better off raising NIL unless a local business wants to really invest in NIL.

Not to mention given the current economic environment I can’t imagine it’s sustainable to expect even deeper pockets to not be a little more cautious with their expenditures.

Maybe not noticeable imminently but could see folks tightening things up. That’s with recognizing how it’s a big question of how it would be sustainable in the best of times over the long haul.

The "we need more" reality is going to be very interesting as this moves a few years down the road.
That’s the current landscape, unfortunately. It’s going to be a constant game of “who can keep up?” Those who can’t will likely have to form a separate league where they continue the current NIL practices or revert back to how it was before.

It's kinda hard for publicly traded entities to justify contributions to small forwards when we are on the cusp of a recession. Not impossible, especially if you have the voting class structure and float to push it through, but not the best look regardless.

It’s a marketing deal (if done right). No different than paying Shaq or some other athlete to endorse your product. You’re just doing it at a more local / regional level and not paying nearly as much. Brands spend a ton on influencer marketing and this is really no different. You’re paying for posts / ads / content and a certain size audience.

I fully expect to see post game celebration dance videos by players sponsored by brands before long. Surprised it hasn’t happened yet - I’m sure we will soon.

They should get sponsors for all the sections in the Dome. Section 123 is sponsored by Wegmans. Section 301 by ???. They could run all kinds of contests against each other. Each game could be one section against the other. ”Today’s game is sponsored by Tully’s and Carabbas.“ Get a free appetizer after the game or something to that effect. At every home game the team can wear a patch on their jersey supporting the game’s sponsor. Get creative.

Carabbas.

Fayetteville’s proprietor is a good guy and big picture thinker. Well regarded across Bloomin Brands and the national company/franchise.

Little outside the cny box, but worth reaching out.

The Vikings stadium (US Bank Stadium) has each gate named for a company.

I'm sure if brings in good money but as a fan it can be hard to find your gate if you are not familiar with the stadium. For example if you are looking for Gate , you know you are going the right way after passing gates D and E.

Call Wegmans, John. They have stores throughout the Northeast, all the way down to the Va/NC border.
I can see it now: Rickie Collins bagging my groceries at curbside pickup. (Fairmount location only)

Wegmans, Lotte Biologics(used to be Bristol Myers) , Welch Allyn (owned by Hillrom-Baxter), Novelis in Oswego, Pepsi, Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase, Turning Stone, Lockheed Martin, Frito-Lay, International Paper, Finger Lakes Wine Alliance, go big try Walmart etc - surrounding county’s employers should be looked into.

There is no international paper in syracuse
