NIT and JB retirement are the two goals for this team

I never hear about our assistants interviewing or even being a candidate for low level head coaching jobs at the patriot, Nec, maac, etc.

They are not in demand anywhere, except here in Syracuse because they played here, not because of their coaching resume. Just because they are on the staff, doesn't necessarily make them qualified.
Great point. Not even rumored for an interview. I guess, that is also an offshoot of our poor performance as a program as well though. Assistants on successful teams are more inclined to get those considerations.

Right? Hopkins was almost Charlotte’s coach, and if I recall St. Bonaventure and others had interest at various times.

Would’ve made sense to transition to him back when the program was rolling and he was widely acknowledged as one of the better recruiters and hotter assistant coach names out there.

Now though? Cmon. Only acceptable way is if JB steps down midseason and it’s an interim job where someone does a great job.

My job is to convince you he should be our next coach? That would appear to be fruitless and I never said he is the obvious , only candidate. I defend him as a legitimate candidate. So why don’t you convince me that he isn’t.
Gmac is a mediocre recruiter (at least Autry has pulled in some big fish). The current assistants have not shown they’re ready for prime time as head coaches. You put Hop against any of those guys in an interview and he’d blow them all away. No contest. His record isn’t great but he’s actually been a head coach and comes across as a charismatic leader. I love what Gmac did as a player here, but he’s done nothing to deserve to be the head coaching successor. I could live with giving Autry a chance, but would rather have a proven commodity.

Interview question # 1: Do/will you primarily play 2-3 zone as your main defense?

If so, thanks but no thanks.

Does Jason Hart have some basketball mind superpower that you know about? Once again….the showering of support for our beloved GMac. I think there is a petition started by this board against him as next coach that you could probably ask to sign.
Because Jason Hart is exponentially more qualified than the two internal candidates.

Mike Hopkins interviewed for the BC job back in the day. From what i heard he totally butchered it. That should have been a good spot for him. They hired Jim Christian instead, who promptly flamed out
