NIT and JB retirement are the two goals for this team

J Hart or total refresh is where I’ve been leaning for awhile (if Hop can’t turn it around). I mean, maybe Autry has what it takes, who knows. I have a gut feeling JB wants Gmac. Does Gmac have some secret amazing basketball mind that we don’t know about? I don’t get that sense.
Does Jason Hart have some basketball mind superpower that you know about? Once again….the showering of support for our beloved GMac. I think there is a petition started by this board against him as next coach that you could probably ask to sign.

I am saying JB has full control of the program - period.

Wildhack deals with football, LAX, and Olympic sports .. not basketball.
If that's true, then Gerry has already put a deposit down for that Lamborghini that's caught his eye. Because, GMac if definitely the next Syracuse University Men's Basketball Head Coach.

Why would GMac get it over Autry? More of a scrappy, coach on the floor, heady gym rat?

Jason Hart is an actual head coach and while not college, he coaches the kind of players we want to come here instead of the G League, in the NIL era.

I’d be perfectly happy with giving Autry the shot. But I don’t hear anybody discrediting him here or I would defend him. And your criteria for hiring Jason…..I just don’t get it.

Can you link that here?

I don’t hear anybody discrediting GMac any more than Autry….they’re both “discredited” because the program sucks and people want a proven head coach rather than promoting an assistant from a bad program.

Nothing against them and not their fault. If one of them gets it, maybe they end up doing great. But on the surface, I’d hope you could see why those hires wouldn’t look great right now?

Jason won’t play zone and has more credibility that comes from coaching and developing studs.

Make your case for GMac again please. Keep in mind clutch shooting may not help as much as a coach as it did during his playing days.

Somebody send MSOrange the link please.

Well I'm convinced. Well done. It was actually a legitimate question. So I'm supposed to be convinced he should be our next coach when you can't even make a case for it and come back with that nonsense?
My job is to convince you he should be our next coach? That would appear to be fruitless and I never said he is the obvious , only candidate. I defend him as a legitimate candidate. So why don’t you convince me that he isn’t.

He’s probably one of the top 5 most liked SU players of all time.

Is that grounds for being head coach?

Well, JAB was one of the top most, uh, roommates with our best player ever, so clearly that’s a key qualification for the next Syracuse HC.

Gerry may be a perfectly cromulent assistant coach
(or not, I don’t really see what it is that he does especially well)
but
he is also quite literally the least qualified of our three assistant coaches.

I can't remember. What is Jason Hart's personality?

Who is going to be best to come in and not only develop and help attract more talent but also install a defense that can be more physical and defend the 3ball?

That's a good question for why you would choose a current staff member , including one who was a weak defender overall.

Since you obviously can't make a case why he should be a candidate even after being asked to repeatedly... I'll make my case.

No I don't want anyone on the current staff to be the new coach. We've had the worst stretch in the JB era for almost the past decade. Is it all his fault? No. But I'd rather have a proven head coach.

Would he even be in consideration if he wasn't an SU alum? No I don't think so. He hasn't been mentioned as a candidate at other schools. If he seemed to be in demand, I'd feel a lot more comfortable.

I don't think that he's a great recruiter. Some of that will be mitigated by Weitsman's involvement, but GMac has been lead on a lot of big targets who have gone elsewhere. Fully admit some of that is JB's fault.

The only system he has played and coached under at the college level is JB. I don't want 100 percent zone again. He might say he won't be all zone, but I want someone who has proven they won't be.

I never hear about our assistants interviewing or even being a candidate for low level head coaching jobs at the patriot, Nec, maac, etc.

They are not in demand anywhere, except here in Syracuse because they played here, not because of their coaching resume. Just because they are on the staff, doesn't necessarily make them qualified.

When we had a team of basically all freshmen/sophs like Flynn, Donte, Scoop, Rick, Harris, AO(lol at calling this years freshmen the best class ever - Flynn class kills it), I could be pulled into it. I’m certainly not heading to the Dome to watch Girard and Edwards in the NIT. *shrug*
Arinze taking it coast to coast or or 5'10" Flynn dropping his plums on Rosarios head as he poster dunks... gives me the warm fuzzy feelings.

Who on staff is responsible for developing players position by position? Assistant coaches? Gerard defensively? Jesse and his continual foul trouble? Mintz and his almost always head down drives and not passing the ball to the wide open shooter while they stand idly by frozen not knowing what he will do? Recruiting? Does not seem like other ACC teams are encountering all these issues except lower end ACC teams with equal or less talent.
