No JGRANT on MCD ROSTER, Thats not right !!!

Actually, I think he's pissed because there are guys on that roster ahead of him who don't have the pedigree and will probably underachieve in college, but because they went to a hype machine school, they get selected. It happens every single year.

I'd say that Jerami deserved it as much as any of those other kids who are ranked between 15 - 30 that made it. But, it is what it is. Congrats to DC2.

The Wear twins that went to UNC, then transferred to UCLA

you know where a player is going to college has nothing to do with whether they make this team or not right?

i've only seen a few dudes add something worthwhile. At least he's a fan right? did tom cruise hate his brother raymond in rain man?? no cuz it was his brother

Ummm, it was Raymond who should have been hating on Charlie. It's not like that "dude" could count cards.

Back to Wapner...

And Jgrant is hardly a top 40 fringe player (dude is going to be great)[/quote said:
Tiger's top 40 from the fringe. So is Phil. Not sure about Grant.

And you really believe that? This selection process is more political than the seeding for the NCAA tournament. Always has been. And Morgan Wooten had the final say in many cases. He personally kept Billy Edelin off the roster, and that is a fact.

I love the enthusiasm, but man it's just overkill sometimes

I don't recall that happening to Billy, but Wooten did keep Paul Harris off the roster (after he had been voted in) due to "character issues"

there have been a couple cases of "the Duke effect" over the years, but I think it is vastly overblown.

Hey johnny jocksniffer...it's ok. You can't take things this personal when people hate on Syracuse, players get disrespected, etc. Take a step off the ledge. Gmac wasn't a burger boy, either was hak. I know you are a big fan but you need to put the pompoms down and take these disappointments better.

Dudes who average 12.3 ppg don't often get voted in, unless they're averaging 15 boards and 6 blocks to go with it...

"Jimmy, radical idea here but bear with me...what if we promised SUGAR on top?!"

"Offer that good player a scholarship. He's tall!"
"I think we should look at -- ooh, a butterfly!"
"What this team really needs is Jell-o. Trust me."
"Jimmy baby, it's so EASY on PlayStation!"
"Jim, have you ever thought about recruiting a wizard?"

Time to unleash the Brady Palm for this thread.

The story I heard talks about a grudge between Billy and Coach Wooten going back to his time at DeMatha. In 2001, Cameron Indoor was hosting the McD game, but Duke had no high profile recruits in the game. They ended up selecting Duke's lone decent recruit, PG Daniel Ewing, to play. Ewing couldn't hold a candle to Edelin, who was the PG for the mythical national champion, Oak Hill, that season.

I'm not saying that there is an SU conspiracy with the game. There isn't. What I am saying is that the selection process is flawed and has resulted in many average guys with more hype making the game over the years all because of where they signed and the ratings the game could draw because of it. And some kids appear to have been black balled, which was the case with Paul Harris. I still don't think anyone has ever figured out that one. Some said it was his grades. Others said that he didn't qualify because he didn't actually graduate from HS in four years. Whatever it was, the kid got hosed.

I don't know what you're talking about. This is one of my favorite threads ever.

"Hey there Nerlens, you come to Syracuse and this Slinky has your name all over it."

Are you 11? This thread is why parents need to monitor their kids when on the computer.

I thought I remember him admitting that he is only 17, so we should probably cut him a break. He's a SyracuseFan.com contributor in training.

McD games and Jordan games don't mean . Nice recognition, maybe. Thomas Robinson and Otto Porter are guys who weren't in either.

never knew that about Edelin, thanks for the detail.

On Harris: Wooten was quite explicit that it was character issues, relating to Harris' early involvement with the legal system.

I'd imagine Noel isn't a McD's primarily because he reclassified WELL after the semi finalists were announced.

Wooten had little respect for Billy because of things that didn't happen in the classroom and things that did happen off the court. The reasons why he didn't make it at DeMatha are the same ones why Wooten didn't endorse him for the Mickey Dee game. He really didn't get hosed. Harris didn't deserve to make it either.
