No wonder we are struggling to score many points

Well, we are a more deliberate team than in years past.

We do not have any true/real "chuckers". No Dion's, DeShuan Williams', Devo's or Donte's throwing the ball at the rim 5 seconds into the shot clock from deep without a single pass and most likely a hand in their face. We also don't have the Scoop's that would drive into the lane and throw up bad shot after bad shot with 3 defenders around him without running a single play.

As Cowtown said, we have a more deliberate team this year.

It's kinda been said in this thread already, but I see a few reasons. First and foremost is that the zone is really good. Even if teams score against it, it takes a while to get a good shot, so that reduces possessions.

Second, we're a pretty efficient offensive team in the half-court. Last couple years, we've struggled (comparatively) in the half-court so we needed to push tempo to score. If it resulted in a few more turnovers, it was part of the trade-off. This year, there's no reason to force transition because we can score so efficiently. Plus, we don't turn the ball over, so there are no runouts for the opponents. So that reduces a few possessions.

Third, opponents know Syracuse's reputation and potential in transition, so they work pretty hard at taking it away. We're still forcing a lot of steals, but they don't seem to be the ones where we can run off of them for some reason.

Ennis. Any time we get in transition Tyler doesn't force anything unless it's there; our PG's in the past would attack regardless. We could run up and down and score in the 80s if we wanted, but Ennis dictates tempo as well as any PG can.

When teams continually run 20 to 25 seconds of the shot clock before they try to run a play this is what you get. Not worried about it, we can play any style as long as we stay out of foul trouble.

I think he reads the floor better than any of his more immediate predecessors. He has a better sense for where the opening will develop. And because he's very consistent that way, he's easier for the rest to read him and play accordingly.
